I read it wrong and actually says 270 hp. What does it compete with then? The base V6 mustang shows 300 Hp. Camaro numbers are usually higher than mustang's. Especially when they have an extra year.

Isn't Ford's 2.3 Liters? 15% more displacement... but leaves GM better positioned in Europe for greenpeace taxes and whatnot.

Once you start modding forced induction, it really just boils down to who's rotating assembly and heads can handle the most pressure.

and I believe the Camaro turbo 4 is a 2.0L whereas the mustang is 2.3L

All these leaks. Basically had the reveal today. I guess the only thing we can expect from tomorrow is good pictures.

Q : Why didn’t you fix the rearward visibility for the next-gen ? That was the single biggest complaint for the Gen 5.
A: We talked to many Gen 5 customers about the visibility, and they made it clear they were not willing to accept changing the appearance of the Camaro’s iconic silhouette for the sake or rear visibility. We are using increased levels of technology to help with visibility, including a standard back up camera on all models, and available rear sonar.
Ha, they did indeed anticipate my complaint. Seems like kind of a lame excuse, though. Basically: "5th gen owners don't care about rear visibility, so screw off. Or buy the sonar package."

This is the same argument that V6 owners have made for the last 5 years only to get hammered for it.

What jumps out at me is as follows:

All I can tell you is the new 2016 Camaro SS is already posting better lap times than the 2015 Camaro 1LE. This is very bad news for the Mustang GT PP, as the present 1LE spanks the 15 GT.

6.2L LT1with estimated at 440 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. If this is the case along with lower weight this spells bad news again for the GT in any straight line events.

"Estimated" power.. Remember what happened with the ATS-V? I can see same thing happening here.

Possibly. The 5.0 doesn't have DI yet. They can easily be working on an updated 5.0 for the 2017 MY that makes more than 450 hp and a solid bump in torque. If the 440 hp is it for the Camaro LT1, I wouldn't be surprised to see the updated 5.0 surpass it. GM really needs to pus the LT1 closer to 460 in the Camaro. They keep saying they aren't protecting the Corvette but I don't see it.

I applaud them for sticking to their guns. They aren't going to sacrifice their design aesthetic for something their studies show isn't a big sticking point to their customer base.

That's exactly how I read it too. How will GM attract new customers to this car? Apparently the complaint is big enough, they felt the need to address why they did NOT address it.

because those complaints didn't stop people from buying 5th gens. enough people bought them and beat out their competition for 5 years straight.
