250 registered by Jul 31 get dash plaque, t shirt and an award. So you buy your award. They do have a bunch of special awards for favorites, not sure how that works. No classes no voting

Look about 1/3 of the way down though it says people registering the day of the show do not recieve t-shirts.

I also have done shows where everyone gets an award, and these been "participate of show" certificates which are pre-printed from the pre-registrations. Why it says "no awards for on site registration" is my guess.

The pre-registration is only for t-shirts and awards. You CAN register day of the show.

They give out special awards for best engine, best paint, etc.

Proceeds go to the Special Olympics. The show isn't about the awards.

The participant plaques are ordered for the pre-registers only to save money.

It's a good time and everyone ALWAYS says, "It's not about trophies, it's about going and having a good time."

It's a worthy cause and worthy of the ICE's support.

Special Olympics Car Show Update

This is straight from Sue & Jim, about the the Special Olympics Car Show in Parkersburg. I got this from them tonight at the Cruise to the Mill...

EVERYONE is welcome to come to the show and be in it, NOT just pre-registered guests. You CAN register the day of the show.

EVERYONE who registers the day of the show or pre-registered is eligible for the special awards

EVERYONE who registers the day of the show or pre-registered will be given a dash plaque

EVERYONE who registers the day of the show or pre-registered will be given a participant plaque(those who did not pre-register, Sue will take your names and addresses and send them to you)

SPECIAL AWARDS are selected by special judges and last year only a couple of "locals" won anything.

I thought the judging was fair and unbiased.

For those of you who have not ever attended this show in the past or won't be attending this year's show because of what you may or may not have heard from others, you may want to rethink your decision. Come to the show and judge for yourselves. Even if you come and do not have a good time, at least you're helping out the Special Olympics.

The show has given over $25,000 to the Special Olympics of Iowa over the past few years. It costs the Special Olympics $1500 just to rent the UNI Dome for just one day.

This show is a fun show, lots of great cars, lots of great people, and it is for a great cause.

As Forrest Gump says, "...and that's all I got to say about that."

Tim,

I'm trailering too. I plan on leaving home around 5:30 a.m. and leaving the Des Moines area by 6:00 a.m.

"I think" some people are hooking up with me to go down. You would certainly be welcome too if that works for you.

Good luck prepping- I have been cleaning since friday and I'm not even sure if I will be done by the 25th-every night & weekend booked cleaning something (hense no show this Sat for me :(-will still be in the middle of paint restoration ).
