Well...

Huh.

I guess now the question is;"Is "The (trusted) source" an official Ford rep.?"

I'm guessing not. That doesn't mean I think the time is fake...just that I don't think Ford themselves will take credit for this "leaked" info.

Not saying it didn't happen, but seeing that it was done in Sep of last year and it just gets leaked out now seems a bit suspicious. Anybody can through numbers up, but without proof, it's just hearsay.

This is is about to get interesting.

Kudos to Ford. Now what did the Z/28 run when they went back last summer?

Agreed. This is why I like to see how Randy Probst does with them at Laguna Seca

Do they post their 1/4 mile times? There are no variables in that right?

And they don't mind doing it for the Focus...of all cars:

8:26 Ford Focus RS Horst von Saurma Ford conducted test (08/2009)

Seriously though if the GT350R ran like a 7:40 to 7:45, they'd be all over it.

EXACTLY!!!!

How dare Ford not use the Officially mandated camera and VBOX equipment?

Oh wait, there is nothing official about ANY of these 'ring "times". They're all just, in a sense, heresay. And anyone who puts any weight in any of these times is trying to ice-skate uphill.

Which is why, like you, I much prefer to see the Lightning Lap Times. It's a well overseen test where variables are kept to a minimum.

It also helps to have them on a track that most of us actually have access to.

Interesting that even the Mustang boyz are calling BS on this story. I would actually have expected a faster time for a car half a decade behind the C5 and buitl to specifically beat the Z/28. 5 seconds is a lot but on the Ring with a new C6 around the corner the GT350R will need to do better than that in its cureent form.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not necessarily calling BS on the time. It's just that I don't really put a whole lot of stock in 'ring Times due to their completely unregulated nature.

ABSOLUTELY INSANE if true. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it is true though, I fully expected it to be faster than the Z/28. But 5 seconds is an a$$ kicking.

Z/28 time in the rain half course...Whatever it can do, its gonna be very close to the Z/28 or better.
