Unfortunately this is the same symptom seen on the Corvettes that use the A8 transmission. It's literally the reason I won't even consider an A8 auto tranny on a Camaro or Corvette.

As other have said I would go to the dealer and test drive a new one just to see if what your feeling in the trans can be repeated in another SS. I would also see if driving in different modes has any effect. The mode setting do effect the transmission shift point based off the GM manual see below.

Sport Mode
Use where road conditions or
personal preference demand a more
controlled response.
When selected, the Sport Mode
indicator will display in the DIC.
When in Sport Mode, the vehicle will
shift automatically but hold a lower
gear longer than it would in the
normal driving mode based on
braking, throttle input, and vehicle
lateral acceleration. See
Automatic
Transmission
0 225. The steering
will change to provide more precise
control. If the vehicle has Magnetic
Ride Control, the suspension will
change to provide better cornering
performance. If the vehicle is
equipped with Active Exhaust, the
exhaust valves will open earlier and

more often.

I was under the impression that the different drive modes also affected throttle response. Not sure of that could be part of the issue.

Nah , just feels like I'm towing something , it does stay in 1st pretty long, I've started driving it in manual mode only cause I hate how the car shifts from 1 to 2 . Two dealerships say nothing is wrong but the ones I test drove don't feel like my car , they are very smooth and fast.

Not sure if it is part of the issue on his car but it does change in Track mode. Here the info out of the GM owners Manual

Track Mode
Use when maximum vehicle
handling is desired.
When selected, the Track Mode
indicator will display in the DIC.
When in Track Mode, the automatic
transmission and steering will
function similar to Sport Mode. The
accelerator pedal is adjusted to give
maximum control during the highest
level of spirited driving. The
Magnetic Ride Control will be set to
the optimum level for vehicle
responsiveness. If the vehicle is
equipped with Active Exhaust, the
exhaust valves will open.

Yeah I think my issue is its shifting to early in all modes cause when I manual shift/manual mode I hold the car to almost 25 mph before shift to 2nd and it really makes the car feel fast, my car in just auto feels like it's dragging and hard shifting....i hardly let it shift itself anymore ...dealer says normal , test drive three others and those cats don't do it

Sounds like you want a Mustang. They feel and look fast, but are really slow.

Look the car is fast whether you are in manual mode or not. Step on the gas a lug it alittle in manual mode and see how it compares. 8 speeds are not just good for ecconmy. You need to educate yourself a little more. You can switch quickly between auto an manual to check your gear and figure it out.
There is no way you should be doing 25 in first unless you are pushing pretty hard. I just don't think you are giving useful info. Sorry.
