Bike rack
As some one who might be getting a 2010 Camaro SS soon and an avid cyclist both road and mountin I was wondering if there where any recommendations on bike racks I'm looking for something that can hold three bikes, be kept in the trunk with a very quick set up with out any worry of damage to the bikes or the car and of corse something reliable enough that I won't be seeing my brand new Scott Speedster in my rear vew being ran over by the Dodge truck ridding my but.

There was a very long thread in this about a month back. Use the search function and you'll get a lot the information on the subject.

The Sea Sucker seems to be the best for the Camaro.

I don't know if you are willing to put a hitch on your Camaro, but some of the hitch mounted carriers fold up pretty small plus you don't have to worry about scratching or dinging the body. I have a rack like this that I used with my last car. It is pretty compact when folded and might fit in the trunk of the Camaro, but I never tried.

I can fit my nomad in the trunk just have to let the air out of my fork :-P My friend put a hitch on his corvette and uses it, seems to work well and the car looks normal once it's off.

Hitch or roof. Trunk rack will damage the bumper. It's not a weight bearing structure. I use a yakima rook rack. Each fork rack is around $150. I think you could fit 3 bikes with drop bars. For sure 2.

I have a bumper mount rack and no way is it going on a Camaro. My road bike fits in the trunk fine with the front wheel off.

Recently installed this:
http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitc...FZSY4Aodp1AAug Will be using this rack: http://media.performancebike.com/ima...-NCL-ANGLE.JPG Got tired of the heave-ho out of the trunk, esp. with 2 bikes (they did fit though, with wheels removed and seat down - what a car!). |

I've been working on something with my old bike rack I used on my Acura CL. Haven't found points to attach it yet where one of the bike tires aren't nearly touching the ground.

I went the hitch way also. I wanted the rack where the bike tires sit in the cradles, but my bike shop guy was concerned that the tires would be pretty close to the dual exhaust, and might damage them. I bought a Thule Helium which is an aluminum 2 bike carrier. Works pretty good and it's lighter than a lot of racks. Since I have a women's bike and have to use an adapter bar, it requires a little extra effort to secure it.
