As Padre said....don't forget about your suspension and wheel/tire combo. All that HP does you no good if you can't put it to the ground. You'll also want to put money asside for things like a good clutch or coverter. There is more to it than just a motor.

Oh yes, for sure. That part I know. It's just the building of the motor, internals and whatnot, that I'm not very knowledgeable.

Im interested in hearing about these 454 blow ups. Were the motors the newer crates or the older ones. Because its looking like the newer ones have a good forged rotating assemblies.

like that JRE guy or what ever. People have been complaining about the 4.185 bore or what ever it is and the motors failing under boost.
