Goal: 700 HP and 700 lb•ft torque

TL/DR:
I’m trying to mod my SS to make power just north of a stock ZL1, somewhere around 700 HP and 700 lb•ft torque. Mainly a street driven vehicle, with occasional track days. What combination of mods would get me there?

***

Since buying my A8 1SS last September, I’ve stuck with a NA approach for my car, with the following mods installed:
  • Flex fuel (no tune yet)
  • Rotofab CAI
  • 103 mm throttle body
  • MSD Atomic AirForce intake manifold
  • Long-tube headers with cat delete
  • Valvetronic universal mufflers

However, as I read more and more, I’m starting to strongly consider going with a forced induction setup. Choosing a blower isn’t easy, but it seems like a ProCharger would offer a good balance of affordability, compatibility, power, and ease of installation.

To sum up what I’m considering changing:
+ Port throttle body
+ Port intake manifold
+ Port cylinder heads
+ Swap camshaft
+ High flow fuel injectors/pump
+ Add ProCharger
+ Add Water-Meth (because I only have sporadic access to E85)
+ Swap exhaust for Borla S-type axle back
+ Get a decent tune

Is this setup reasonable for my goals, or would you add/remove any modifications? Would you pick a different supercharger? Is all the porting a waste of time and money if I’m going forced induction anyways? Do I need to worry about upgrading any engine internals or drivetrain components at these power levels?

Thanks!

make it simple.

Blower of choice. Add toohighpsi port injection system.

good flex tune. Will get you there.

I dont have any experience adding a blower to an existing N/A car but you have found the right place to ask... I would just like to throw out the idea of purchasing a used LT4 set-up... Plenty of build threads on here of folks who have... and there is a seemingly never ending supply of LT4 take off; blowers, TB's, Injectors (im selling a set now), HPFP, and low side pumps... for what i would imagine to be 40-50% the cost of a procharger system, with alot more low end torque... food for thought.

All the porting is not the best place to spend that money if you're adding boost. What are you trying to do? Competitively drag race on a track, roll race or just want more power for driving around? The procharger will need a looser converter to launch very hard at the track. If you're doing cam and considering spending the port money, the bottom end of the engine isnt that much further to put a forged piston/rod setup in. Cheapest easiest setup to throw on and go pretty fast would be something like laynlo15's setup, pd blower, port injection, drag pack and run 9's all on the stock engine.

Thanks for all the feedback! Looking at some of your suggestions, it sounds like a lot of those mods may be overkill; going with a simpler approach with a blower, a port injection system, and a solid tune for 93 and E85 will take me just about as far as I would need to go.

Maggie 2650, ToohighPsi, Rotofab and E65 all on the stock fuel system. Stop blowing money on stuff that you don't need. You can make over 700 and 670 torque easily, I made it on an Lt1 fuel system with just a JMS voltage booster and a 2300 Maggie and of course Toohighpsi port injection. Geezzz its just so simple, no heads, no headers, no cam, just a 103 snout and 95mm TB. Send me the difference I just saved you on all that stuff you don't need. Sorry for ranting just trying to save you real money.

Lol yeah, it sounds like a lot of the stuff I was originally going to do (like heads/cam, porting, etc) would be a waste of money, time and effort. It’s a lot simpler than I thought. I definitely tend to overthink things, lol

If you have any procharger questions feel free to ask me. I have installed everything myself (including port injection) and "sort of" did the tuning myself with massive amounts of help from the forum and a base starter tune.

I feel like my setup is doing very well now for a stock bottom end LT1. Have not had a chance to run at the track after pulley and PI though. Shooting for a low-mid 10 run.

wow that is not much boost as you have a huge pulley on the P1X, I have the 3.85 pulley on a 7200 RPM D1x and I though I was turning it slow. LOL, please tell me how much boost you are getting on the stock LT1 with either pulley setup.

Flex Fuel kit with no tune is useless unless you tune it in.
Where in FL are you? Just moved down from VA

With 4.13 pulley at 6900 rpm shift in all gears, peak boost was about 10.5 psi. Average between about 8-9. In ither words, about 3-4 psi drop from top of one gear to the bottom of the next. So i think avg boost is important for a centri to consider.

With the 3.7 pulley at 6400 shift peak boost is 11.5-12 psi. Average 9-10. But for the tall 4-5 shift, i still hold it out to 6700 and peak is around 13.75 psi.

I have all stock engine and exhaust components except for whats in my sig, so boost will be higher compared to someone with LTs and no cats.

Yeah, I have all the hardware installed but haven’t gotten the tune yet, so I’m still stuck running 93. I’m in Gainesville! Closest station with E seems to be in Ocala.

I just move to South Gulf Shores and I have a E station about 12 miles away thank goodness. The thought of buying 55 gallon drums of E85 was not pleasant!
