Been gone from the forum for a long time...

It's been about 4 years since I posted in this forum, but thought I'd finally revisit! I thought about the forum after I had a minor tragedy with my '13 ZL1 which I'd bought new in September of 2012. In April, I was parked in the middle of a completely empty parking lot while at a pizza place with some friends, and after returning to my car I saw it had been hit on the driver's side. Of course, there was no note. Up to that point, other than a few stone chips on the front bumper there wasn't a mark on her in almost 11 years and over 68,000 miles - no dents, no scratches, no door dings. I just about lost my dinner when I saw it.
To keep a long story a little bit shorter, I just got my car back after over 2 months in a repair shop. New driver side door panel, new rear quarter panel, and new door sill. The repair shop did a great job; the paint match is perfect. Only complaint is the door may need a little bit of adjustment, but that's minor. I'm happy to have her back, but I may never park her in town again... To welcome it back, I gave it a decent detailing inside and out. Doesn't look too shabby for a car soon to be 11 years old...

They are great cars and you have the best colour, Crystal Red Metallic.

It is rare for an original owner to have a ZL1 this long and to put miles on her. These cars go through people for various reasons (financial, trade up or down, expensive tires, wanting the latest Camaro or Corvette) so it is great to see folks like you hold onto a car which I think is an undiscovered gem.

Sad to hear about your parking lot mishap, that really bites!! But there are just a lot of idiots out there who just don't care about anybodies stuff!! So glad to see you finally have her all fixed and "dolled up"!! Looks great!! One of my Camaro friends also has a 13 CRT ZL1 and it looks fantastic as well! He drives it every day and takes good care of it like you do!! Welcome back, and be careful out there. Nice ZL1...

Thanks, everyone. Regarding keeping it this long, I have considered trading it in a couple times; once for a later model ZL1, and again when the mid-engine Corvette came out. Couldn't bring myself to do it either time, as I just love this car.

While it doesn't have a ton of miles on it, it's never been a garage queen. I try to avoid driving it in bad weather, especially in the winter time if there's any threat at all of icy conditions. During those times, I rely on my '05 Dodge Ram pickup, which I've owned almost 18 years and which will soon pass 200,000 miles.

Love to see that you're actually driving it! My 2013 will likely hit 72k miles by the end of this year (67k right now, and have a 2400 mile roundtrip roadtrip planned for September. On top of the "I only drive it in nice weather" (Texas... lol...) driving it gets, I'll probably be right around 72k by the time it gets "parked" in December lol.

How's your suspension holding up? I started noticing a slightly rougher ride right around 60k miles, and I think this winter I will finally have to bite the bullet and put some serious effort/money into it to get her riding well again. Very sad about the unfortunate lack of support from GM for us in that regard.

Your car looks great! My favorite color to! I have owned and sold a bunch of these ZL1's and each time I sell one I always look for your color to buy and they are never for sale when I am looking. Sorry to hear about your car. Whoever did that damage to it will have some karma coming their way soon!

Car looks fantastic. A friend just repaired a 2010 at a high-end shop. They already struggled to get some parts. Had to go used. Headlight assemblies are gone already. Absolutely criminal on GM's part.
