My ZL1 A10 best HOT LAP from Circuit of the Americas

My new personal best lap time of 2:27 at Circuit of the America's from Sunday with Chin Motorsports. I'm super stoked I own this incredible machine, while I did dream of a 911 GT3, this Camaro ZL1 A10 seems to take on all comers.

An awesome friend made the time to add a lap timer for me because my PDR didn't accept the START/FINISH line on this session, so it might be time for an AIM. This fall I'll be working on consistency and chipping away into the 2:26s but this accomplishment will need to get me through the hot Texas summer.

2018 ZL1 A10
1LE aero / 1LE MRR replica wheels and 1LE take off tires
Colbalt Brake Pads / SRF fluid
Borla catback & Borla secondary cat delete pipe
Rotofab intake
Track Alignment (GM Specs)

Really, really, really nice run at COTA.....congrats on the new PB!

You were hauling it out there.

I've only had two days at COTA, and that was with the Z/28. Was just learning the Circuit when the rain came. Hope to get back there in 2019 with the ZL1 1LE....not on the schedule in 2018. I'll watch this video to prep when I do get there. Nice driving!

Let us know when you get that 2:26!

Thanks, I cringe when I watch T11 and T8-9 because I know I can do so much better, but that's what being an newbie is all about. This car is ridiculously fast on track, I'm so very pleased with it.

Have to say, it didn't sound at all like an automatic. Were you paddle-shifting it?

No, the car was in drive, the A10 is just that bad ass, it does everything just about right. I'd say every bit as good, maybe better than a PDK because it has the advantage of torque multiplication on corner exit from the converter.

So the torque converter unlocks at least under some track conditions? Is it always unlocked or only during shifts? I can't tell closely enough from either the sound track (mentally filtering out the 'Stones and memories of the TV show "Tour of Duty") or the tach indications.

Somebody from a different forum sent me a "deep dive" article into some of the workings of the A10 - power flow and ratio calculations mainly. It never went into what the TC might be doing.

Norm,

Sorry, I really don't know what it does other than put power down exactly right and all the time. It's automagic.
