5th Gen vs 6th Gen Hips?
One of my favorite parts of the 5th Camaro are it's hips (others may think shoulders). What I consider the hips of the Camaro is the beltline of the rear fender and the distance to the rear window sail panel. The rear 3/4 view is my favorite view that shows the Camaro hips the best. The lower portion would be a woman butt, and the roof and sail panel makes me think of girl with a small waist.
For you younger guys, check out pics of Rachel Welch in her young days, she had a beautiful body, nice curvy hips, and a very toned and small pancake flat waist, her breasts and face didn't hurt either Now back to the 6th, I'm just wondering if the hips of the 6th will be just as strong as the 5th are. From the concept pics it almost looks like the belt line to sail panels won't be quite as wide. The new Mustang new hips was one of the first things that reminded me of a Camaro styling cue. Mustang use to be quite slab sided (including its fastback sail panels), not it too has hips. |

I understand your thread, but the 'delivery' of your post kind of creeps me out. lol.
I believe this vehicle will be smaller, and have smaller 'hips'. Grab a 5th gen if you want that big booty. |

Thanks for the link, and it's pics like that made me think the hips have been toned down, but I'd never go 5th over 6th for the simply reason that the 6th is suppose to have tidier dimensions and lower weight. Just was hoping the same fender to sail panel ration would have the rear muscular looking. I'm on the waiting list for the Bell Isle reveal, since I don't live far away I'm hoping they will open it to more people once they get an better idea how many will be attending w/their Camaro's. |

The distance between the rear quarter window and the shoulder line looks to have increased in the 6th gen. Not sure I'm liking that.
The quarter window shape is changing, too. That might be accentuating the distance between it and the shoulder line. The top-of-the-fender line that kinda dives downwards as it meets up with the rear quarter shoulder line in the 5th is different on the 6th. That line on the 6th gen doesn't seem to meet the rear quarter shoulder line. The coving in the lower side of the 5th is different in the 6th. It's deeper in the rear of the coving on the 5th, creating what's known as a "wasp waist". The 6th has it deeper in the FRONT of the coving. I don't know what you call that. Finally, it seems all the edges and creases have been smoothed over in the 6th. Couple all this together, and the 6th gen comes across as a softer, less muscular, less distinctive looking car. Granted we'll have to see it with all the camo removed, but I'm not holding my breath. I too will miss the coke bottle, wasp waisted, broad shouldered, hip-y American muscle car that the 5th gen is.

Almost every car in the 60s (especially GMs) had that look.

That is true HuJass, but the one thing I see alot from Camaro folks is that now bc the S550 Mustang has more pronounced hips "they clearly stole the design from the Camaro"

I absolutely love the hips on the 5th gen as well. To me, they make the car more than any other design feature. I hope the 6th gen retain "stand out" hips as well, but unfortunately they do seem to be toned down somewhat...close to the size of the 2015 Mustangs. Withholding final say until reveal!

Its not that they stole it, but I'd say Ford might have been influenced by the more muscular look of the camaro with the s550. GM nailed it back in 2009, and it took a while for the Mustang to catch up in the looks department.

I agree with the hips being an awesome design cue for the C5 Camaro, check out the 68-72 Corvette Sting Ray for some nice hips!!
