Chevrolet Performance Announces the LT1 Crate Engine with some specs [VIDEO]
Specs listed in the video:
460 HP 465 LB-FT Direct Injection Active Fuel Management Variable-Displacement Oil Pump Oil-Spray Piston Cooling Keep in mind this is the Crate Engine, not the Camaro engine. I would bet cylinder deactivation is a feature in the Camaro but not in the Crate Engine and the Camaro could have different figures. Here's the video |

I could replace the 455 Olds in my old jet boat. It's about 38 years old now. But at $11,000, the LT1 is worth about twice what the boat is. LOL

My guess is we will see at least 460 HP in the Gen 6 Camaro.

I just noticed the other day when chevrolet performance posted a picture of the LT1 crate engine on facebook that the engine comes with exhaust manifolds, not the tri-y headers. Exhaust manifolds are also shown in this video.
For those that know this sort of stuff, if the engine was left in the same configuration (460 hp and 465 lb/ft of torque), what is the most conservative increase in power from adding tri-y headers? Let's also assume that the engine will not be detuned to make less power than the vette, and that the 20% of different components in the camaro's LT1 keep the engine at 460hp / 465 lb/ft before adding the tri-ys (even though I'm sure the marketing department included the tri-ys in the 20% difference). |
