Yeah, I wasn't expecting the kit this soon since I just pla ed my order on the 8th of this month. Ted speculated that it would arrive in about three weeks

It took right at 3 weeks for Russ' to arrive. So when my car made 544/559 my first pass down the track with drag pack was 10.92@129.88. Pretty respectable I'd say since I did just have the SCT tune in it. Then it all went wrong, now I'm at 703 with race fuel, meth, 6 pt roll bar. Russ won't let that happen, at least I don't think.

Here’s my plan:
1. Upgrade fuel system
2. Drop in forged pistons, rods and cam
3. Upgrade boost slightly

I figure that setup gets me to 700 rwhp on 93 octane.

Hey Drsagacity,

My future mod plans are similar to yours. At the very least, I would like to make the necessary mods to the fuel system to enable running E85.
I plan to add the LT4 HP pump and injectors at some point (already have ZL1 in tank pump), I’m not sure about a cam. I would prefer a grind very close to stock but with a larger HP pump lobe to help with fueling for E85 and/or increased boost. What are your cam plans? I guess it would be a shame not to go with a little more aggressive grind given the time and effort involved in doing the swap. I just don’t want to impact drivability or deal with collapsed lifters, bent pushrods, etc.
I’m on the fence regarding the rest of the short block but, if I yank the motor to do a cam, I will likely drop in some forged pistons while I’m at it.
I’m enjoying reading this this thread….anytime things start to get out of hand mod-wise, I’ll go back and re-read your earlier post. I can most definitely relate!

Russ is already out of control. Ha, that's what I tell him all the time. You know what, he agrees. Its funny, he keeps adding stuff for me to do, but he hasn't even driven it yet. He's gonna get a big surprise especially after I get the new pulley on and get it back to the dyno and it makes about 540 to 550 rwhp. I remember driving mine after we got it off the dyno and headed home. Its just wicked and a shit load of fun to drive. I'll get geared up for his next mods in the fall and then back to the dyno for 650 at the wheels and he'll have even more fun.

Out of control for sure. The 95mm pulley was shipped today. Thanks Ted.

Ordered the eibach lowering kit from Paul at PK automotive too...thanks Paul.

Only thing I need now will be the black bowties for front and back...and maybe the aftermarket front end for the zl1 or something.

Just be prepared to have extra down time if you do pistons. You'll want to have the block honed, so working with a shop locally can eat up an extra couple of weeks. If you've never worked with a machine shop... They can be kinda screwy with time management. Helps to know a machineist who can get it done in a day or two.

I'd really like to see one of these companies selling drop in pistons explain how to do an in car hone, or how you could put those slugs in, in car. Because I don't see how you could flex ball hone it without pulling the crank. Even having the engine out of the car you'd need to pull the crank, and thoroughly clean it, just to get the oil squirters out of the way.

I haven’t gotten that far yet...I just know it’s the path. I did all of this stuff before so, I guess I would say that I would opt for a “blower cam”, but truthfully, I would get the advice and recommendations from Jannetty, Pray, and Laynlo.

Having done all this before, I love the sound of a cammed car.

I would also go with all of the surrounding components at the same time. So, being in the motor, pistons, rods, bolts, whatever. For me, once I get in the motor, I would want it done right.

I completely get it. I experienced that on my Vette. I blew the motor (cracked the block) so went all forged and more cubic inches...but was a pain getting things done the way I wanted...trying to avoid that extreme this time around.

Yeah whatever I end up in, I want it to be straight forward. Not much possible down time worst case scenario.
