Raced a C7 Corvette....
Finally got a chance to race a Stingray. I have the 8 speed but didn't ask what the guy driving the Stringay had. We roll raced from 35 to around 100mph. He got me about half a car length. Pretty impressed that my car held its own. From a dig I know it's a drivers race.

Nice, we'll c7's bout 150-200 lbs lighter.
Equal robot-like drivers, the C7 should edge out. In the real world, these two cars is def a drivers race |

Base to base the weight difference is almost 400 lbs. 3300 (3297 IIRC) for base vette and 3685 for the SS.
That's around 4 tenths. Stock record for a stingray is 11.4. SS is 11.9 on stock tires. 11.7 with DR. Not quite a drivers race all things equal IMO. I consider a drivers race within .2. Of course any race can be a drivers race but that's where I draw the line. |

Just going off established private owner times so far. The stingray has gone 11.4 stock with stock tires. We are at 11.90 right now and I think someone will go 11.8 eventually can't see much more being possible. Granted these are different driver different day and track but when you have the data compiled over a couple years with similar DA as well as the weight difference I would say the difference is about .4.

Weight difference was about 200lbs and rwhp numbers were slightly in favor of the Camaro from 1998-2002. The Camaro also had solid rear axle which is a bit better for the strip. 12.6 hero time for the c5 vette and 12.8 for the Camaro IIRC. Whats up with the Ford GT....turbo v6? |

Don't forget if the C7 was an A8, only the Z51 has equal gearing to the SS. A non-Z51 A8 might be very close to what an SS A8 will run.

Although the z51 package comes with a decent weight penalty. Loaded z51 cars are 34-3450lbs from what ive seen. But then again the 11.4 car was a z51... |

The higher the speeds the further C7 will pull on you due to the insane aero it has over our 6th gens. I've done many pulls against C7s (a couple against Kracka here and others not here) and they always ends up about half a car length in front of me and the gap gets further out as the speeds go above 120. From a dig, our cars will always take a head start due to our tires proving a much better traction (weight plus our tires are much better than PSS imo).

Time slips?
Footage from the track? I'm assuming this was on a track since we don't allow street racing posts |

One small point to consider is that there are very well documented incidents where the SS puts down more RWHP than the C7. Small amounts of less than 10 HP, but still real.
That was very common with the LS1 cars. The solid rear axle put more power down than the IRS. It was not uncommon for the F-Bodies to put down 300+RWHP on a dyno pretty much bone stock. The C5s put down in the 280-290 range due to the losses of the IRS. My SLP Firehawk put down 301RWHP bone stock at 1,500 miles.
