Driving without your engine cover

So i am currently 250 miles from home at college and i just started sanding my engine cover to paint it when i do go home next week. Is it safe to drive around without it for the next week or so, even if its raining/snowing?

It's strictly cosmetic. Or at least it was before you started sanding on it. -

The engine cover is there to hide the sparkplug wires and reduce engine noise. I took mine off, I like to see the engine. Did not notice any increase in engine noise.

Pulled mine off as soon as I got it home, it is just a heat trap as stated earlier.

Might seem like a foreign concept to some, but there was actually a time when cars came WITHOUT engine covers !!!!

Leave that ugly, Lego looking pos off. They look so idiotic, more so when customized.

Seriously, it's the most wretched thing ever concocted. Burn it in an outhouse.
