Corvette vs. Camaro SC volume? (pics inside)

Someone else noticed this as well. Seems like the SC has a much larger lid on the Camaro. That's never a bad thing. More efficient at higher RPM's and capable of more power maybe?

I bet the SC is the same and the intercooler is just better on the Camaro.

Omg, one can only dream they decided to throw that tiny 1.7L in trash where it belongs!

You're probably right but You never know. Here is what the Vette looks like with the lid removed. The highest part is definitely not the intercoolers

Well, fingers crossed for you guys. I'll be watching for the outcome. I'm sticking with the 1LE, but a ZL1 that's got a better blower than the halo car would be cool.

Not with the Vette, but extend them up and they would be in the Camaro.

The Vette has the rotors recessed deep to keep the height low. It's possible that they are only optimizing for the Camaro by moving it higher for better cooling but that's a lot of effort and still a new SC. If your going to go through the effort bigger makes more sense for the car.

The rotor placement is discussed in this excellent video.

Not only is it taller, but it's actually bigger. On the ZO6 you can see how the back part has a curve to allow for clearance by the cowl. The ZL1 doesn't have that. Nice.

My only question is where are the rest of the bolts holding down the lid on the ZL1 engine? There are 15 bolts around the edge of the Z06 lid, unless it's just the angle?

Never mind I see them now, in this pic you can see how much higher it is over the bolts, and that it covers the entire blower equally.

Here is the CTS V engine, looks like the Z06. Definitely something different going on with the ZL1 lt4.

I have driven the new Z06 and it is an awesome machine. I can say that the supercharger was not as loud as what we all have heard in the ZL1 videos. I say the camaro team are sandbagging on that 640hp just like dodge did when the hellcat was announced at 600 plus hp. It wouldn't be the first time chevy put more horses in a car other then their halo corvette #see1970

I would bet that the 2017 Z06 s/c LT4 will have much of the same changes that are on the '17 ZL1 - and also a slight HP boost.

It is not the first time they use different lids. Remember on the last gen LSA motor has different SC lid for the CTS-V and the ZL1. I think the ZL1 lid was better for cooling. Perhaps they'll follow this for the new ZL1.

I believe the Vette lid is is as high as it can go because of hood clearance. I could be incorrect.
