Corvette is a pure sports car. It is a different animal from the Camaro and Mustang. GM is going to really have to step it up with the C7 now that the ZL1 and GT500 are such powerhouses.

You have a point, OP. But so do other people in this thread. You can't compare a 4 seat pony car to a 2 seat supercar.

You know, I used to want to own a Corvette convertible as my sunset into retirement car. But now, I just don't (ZL1 'vert is). Can't put my finger on it, but the 'vette just isn't me. And as nice and cool as Corvettes are, I don't think it could ever be me.
Camaro, on the other hand, just has a resonance that's more in tune with my own "style" or persona. I may work in management, not have a mullet, and I don't live in a trailer park, but I do love me some Camaros. ZL1 gets bitch-slapped in the nose a little bit and the non-believers run off with their tail between their legs. To me, the fight just started. Camaro will hit back.

I would have to agree with the majority of the guys here, the GT500 does not compete with the Corvettes. Especially not a Z06

I'm don't have that much knowledge in Corvettes, but why don't they just scrap the base corvette and keep the z06 and zr1 since the zl1 is approaching it's turf? I guess it would cost a good bit in sales, since all some people care about is if it's a corvette and just want the cheapest one but still. Just throwing that out there.

Based on what we have all read, I think it is pretty clear that the ZL1 is EASIER to drive near its limit than the GT500. It's those limits that we really don't know yet, as we haven't seen a true road course comparison....yet. |

If you think driving around in circles and going in-and-out of cones is the same as a road course you have alot to learn.

In this Olympic year, we have a "sprinter" (500) vs. a "decathlete" (ZL1)
