No, they're not the same car.

A lot of people like to bring it up in order to boost the Camaro up over the Mustang.

It's Mustang vs Camaro, not MustangCougar vs CamaroBird.

The only way I could see that stat being used is if they are doing a running total. IE over the last 50 years Mustang has been the best selling

Congrats to Mustang. They seem to have hit a home run with the world-wide marketing.

The Camaro seems to have come up wanting in this area. Mustang fan or not, they are representing for the good 'ole USA. That is a good thing we should all be proud of.

Oh, so based on the numbers above me, since the Mustang/Camaro debuted, that means the mustang outsold the Camaro 41/50 years. Right?
oh settle down.

We all get outsold by the Toyota Camry. That's gotta be the best car in the world, then, since it sells more.

[sarcasm]
I always forget about that all time best selling pony car... the Camry.
[/sarcasm]

Using this straw man argument is a bit of a reach to defend something that doesn't need defending. Yeah, Mustang has sold more, does that negate that Camaro or Challenger are good cars? No.

Feeling the need to defend anything other than one's own personal car. That they paid their own hard earned for seems like a waste of energy.

I like Mustangs.

I was in to Mustangs all through the late 1980's to now. I owned one for 21 years.

They both have their pros and cons.

I have no brand loyalty. I just want hot looks, fighter-jet cockpit and the performance to back it all up.

If the Dodge Challenger handled better, weighed less and would accept wider tires easily, I'd probably have went Dodge. But they're too much of a tank for me. Definitely not sporty.

Yeah... they're bottom feeders. Not insinuating Mustang drivers are bottom feeders.
