I've learned that most guys on here are not the built not bought type and whine about everything. Oh my door rattles. Oh I need driving gloves. Oh my car doesnt have a spare tire.

I daily mine and have no problem with making aggressive lane changes, etc using only mirrors. HOWEVER... I do also agree that parking garages are difficult. The high belt line throws off your perception of where the wheels are...like the car seems wider. I've not curbed a rim but I am super careful and turn wider than really necessary

I went from a 4wd dually to my Camaro. I got used to it quickly. I back into spaces, so getting out usually isn't a problem.

Overall, I don't have any major complaints regarding the visibility, but, coming from a 4th Gen with the huge window on the hatchback, the visibility is drastically decreased in comparison. Blind spot detectors and a back up camera help to make up for this. Also, having your side mirrors set up properly make the decreased visibility a non-issue. I agree with others' comments about curbs in parking lots when making right turns. I err on the safe side and make wide turns in those situations.

I had expected a lot worse going in, considering those numerous reviews comparing visibility to that of a tank or a submarine. Turned out those were way overrated, took me about ten minutes' driving after adjusting the mirrors properly to get a feel and it's not so bad at all. Never drove into or out of a parking garage with the car yet, though, so that might be a challenge.
On the other hand, IMO blind zone detection and lane change assist are a must in a car built like this. I don't fully understand why these features only come in the hefty convenience and lighting package along with tons of cosmetic upgrades, but it is what it is (and I ended up loving the illuminated sill plates, heh). |

My best friend in CA was good friend with the 5th gen exterior designer (little Korean guy and a different story). He had mentioned to me about rearward visibility.... So I knew going into this car to not expect much. As others said... with the blind spot monitors, it's no issue.
But I do remind myself to not get dependent on them for several reasons. |

Yeh it’s not as good as a truck but it’s ok for sports car. Our roads are quite small in town but the visibility is ok to not hit anything. I find the reverse parking much easier than forward due to the camera and with the side mirrors it’s quite good. I have some difficulties with the front end. I prefer to stop earlier than later. most times I have around 1m (3 feed) to the obstacles.

I just took delivery of a 2018 1SS and had no issues getting used to the outward visibility despite reading the negative reviews.
Like mentioned, adjusting the mirrors correctly goes a long way. |

Same here. Got mine last month and head read that same gripe dozens of times before I bought it. Hopped in, adjusted the seat, adjusted the mirrors, been fine ever since.
I'll admit that I use the rear camera, blind spot sensors, and lane assist, though. But I don't think it's because of visibility. It's because they're dope features and super convenient.

After 50k miles I wouldn't mind a little more light coming in and my arm being able to lay on the sill

Visibility is a bit of an improvement from the 5th gen.

My previous sports car was a Porsche Boxster. The SS coupe that I now own has better visibility to each side and to the rear. But, the Porsche had better visibility straight ahead. Funny, the magazines never complain about the Porsche but they sure slam the Camaro.
