The first time I sat in a 6th Gen (never sat in a 5th) was when I bought my 2017 SS. I never have had an issue with visibility, ever. I hear complaints on it,but you can see everything that needs to be seen, so is the complaint that they want more window to look out of?? Maybe most complaints come from rather short people??

Yep, with the mirrors adjusted properly, but it’s still a “tunnel” of visibility that limits your situational awareness of what is around. Those windows are useless, but with properly adjusted SIDE view mirrors you can not see the REAR of the car.

Same here. I'm just as confident in this car as my MS3 which had 4 doors and I'm not tall. The passenger window and side mirror get the job done. Proper adjustment of the mirrors is a must in any car.

Before everyone starts bashing me and telling me how I should've just bought a mustang, think about it. How many sales would they have lost by having MORE visibility? Also I have heard people try to claim its a packaging issue, but as soon as I mention the ATS-V no one has an excuse as to why GM couldn't make the styling work with better sight lines. The belt line on the car is just too high.

and don't get me started on how IDIOTIC it was for GM to justify not addressing the sight lines because "5th gen owners said it was fine"
Just wanted to add to this. I have been in a loaner 2018 ATS while my car gets warranty work done and I find myself feeling like I'm in a green house compared to my 1LE. I'm not ranting over my car. I love it! But I can't help but wonder how much people would rave over these cars even more if they had better visibility.

But then they wouldn't really look like they do, they'd look like a Mustang with a higher windshield, taller roofline, etc.

Sedan. My point is that the visibility issues are in fact 100% cosmetic design choices and not a requirement for the Alpha platform.

The visibility definitely sucks. But you get used to driving with it, and how to make safe lane changes etc.

Worth mentioning, I kind of like the “privacy” the cars design offers.....you don’t even need tinted windows to feel discreet IMO.

I do not understand where this notion comes from, with regards to poor visibility and blind spots. I’ve driven and owned 15-20 different vehicles, and I’ve taken and passed an EVOC course. I see no issues with visibility or blind spots in the 6th gen that I didn’t have in every other vehicle as well. I continue to try and understand this, but I just don’t see an issue. To each their own though, as far as opinions go.

3 months of ownership and so far I've never had an issue. The view actually feels kind of panoramic or "wide screen" to me. Almost better than some other cars due to no pillar in your way. I realized that you don't really need a super tall windshield and side windows to see well. Now, if a car happens to sit just behind you in a certain spot, yes you absolutely need your mirrors. As long as you are good at using them, there isn't a problem.

Really, the visibility is fine.

20 or 30 years ago no one would be binching. Who here remembers when the passenger mirror was an option? Who here remembers when people were chopping the roofs for that low gunslit look? And people did it and drove them as daily drivers.
