Has anyone actually used the ACS template? I'm thinking of ordering everything thru there and would like to verify if it's the same measurement or not.

Is the ACS Kit any different from ordering the two parts separately? For the Deflector and Water tray from Maureen it's $172 vs. $204 from ACS w/ their template. The template is simple to make yourself.

+1 the template is simple to make. I would be scared to cut a hole in my hood if I really wasn't sure on how to make the template. But a pre formed template would make some feel better about it.

Hell I have sent out a couple to other members, does that mean I should had charged them $32 dollars... Thats the difference from Maureen vs ACS. Cause I am pretty sure I paid shipping myself and didn't charge the members anything. It only cost 4 or 5 bucks. Help out a fellow Camaro owner

Here are the pics from my install. I tried using a cutting wheel but my air compressor didn't have enough juice, so I ended up using my jigsaw with a new metal blade. Cut right thru with no problems. Install came out great. I didn't use any of the aluminum strips and don't have any problems with the way it's sitting in the hole.

I used the ACS template. Its very nice and easy to use. Also includes the template for the inside to trim the hood liner.

The ACS rain tray is a nice piece as well. The have an option to order the rain tray and add the templates. I did it that way and saved money. The extractor only cost me $80 or so through a local dealer.

QUICK UPDATE

for those installing the radiator shroud on their V6s I had to remove this price from the bottom in order for it to snap in without issues.

Mine snapped in no problem, it helps hold the shield down from air lifting it up. It was a nice fit on my 2013.

Slightly different installation

I just finished installing my heat extractor. Have a couple of pictures to share. As you can see the mounting method is a little more like that on the 14-15 models in that I made tabs rather than spanning the extractor, I was worried that the little air flow I would have with the rain shield installed the hardware would block more of it. I also warpped the extractor in Matt black vinal. Still need to wrap the hood.

I'm getting a heat extractor soon, but I have seen some people just get a 2014-15 hood and put that on their 2010-13. Seems like that would be a better option instead of cutting a hole in the hood. How much do the 2014-15 hoods go for? For me I would have to get it painted and then put the transformers edition rally stripes on.

The hood cowl for the 14-15 SS is a different width from the 10-13 SS. You'd have to have a shop move the cowl marks on your bumper to match the new hood.

How off is it? The one I saw with a 14-15 hood I couldn't even tell.

It isn't that hard to modify the hood you have. The hardest part is getting up the courage to make that first cut! It's quit simple and saves you the cost of hood and paint.
