the stock ZL1 will always be worth more than a modded SS. When the dumb ass in a beater totals it.

You only owe $20k so if the dealer only gives you that as trade you should be square right? Seems to me they can do that and sell your old car at a profit. You say money is not an issue so I say go for it! Really like the ZL1's.

If money is not an issue, go for the ZL1. I've got enough in my SS to have bought a ZL1 and I love the SS, but if some idiot hits it or steals it the insurance will pay be book value for a stock SS. I'd never be able to replace it. Plus I have no warranty. With a ZL1 you'd have the factory warranty and if it were stolen the insurance would pay you the value of a ZL1 instead of paying you for a stock SS. You'd also have a lot better chance of getting your money out of the ZL1 than you would from a modified SS.

I have a Magnuson TVS2300, exhaust, intake, 160 thermostat, 3.4 pulley, ZL1 fuel pump and a dyno tune and I have 570RWHP (660 crank HP)and 569RWTQ measured mid Aug in the desert heat so in the cooler air = more power. Really up to you in my opinion, I love my SS and love that people underestimate it. Let me know if you have any questions.
Cool! Good to know my SS did not become obsolete with the ZL1 and Z28 debuts. 40k is not a small chunk of change either. :-)

If money didn't matter, to include fuel (I drive long distances), I'd go for it!

ZL1 hands down, you can mod any car to go fast in a straight line, but the ZL1 is much more than that.

Considered the corvette but can't see myself in a base model vette when I can be in a zl1. Going Monday to test drive the zl1 and see how much of a difference it is from my SS with bolt ons and some suspension work

Go with the ZL1, in order to get a Vette with the goodies the ZL1 comes with you're going to be in the 60K+ range. (Magnetic shocks, ZR1 package, etc)
