Yes, if you use the air conditioner, parts you can't see (like the evaporator) get wet, and wet aluminum likes to corrode. I recommend never using the air conditioner.

It'll last for as long as your bank account does.

I currently have 25k miles on my 5th gen / 2010. Factory battery and all...starts up right away with no issues. Once spring roles around, she gets out more and gets some highway miles. Oh, BTW...that m6 is so fun.
It stays in the garage away from the Texas UV and waiting for my grandson to turn 16.

There is quite a difference between 5k to 10k a year. In ten years that's 50k vs 100k.
I have service trucks with almost 300k on them with the oldest being an 07. No major issues with any of them drivetrain wise. If you take care of vehicles, service them, clean them and maintain them, they can last a very long time. It also depends on the vehicle to. Some for no reason are junk and break often ,while other of the exact same make, model and year run flawlessly. |

Not a Camaro, but have a 79 Corvette L-48 that I bought in 87. It was my daily driver for about 10 years and now has 100K plus ( speedo cable broken 3 to 4 times in the last 30 plus years). It has the original power train ( 350 motor-350 hydromatic-3.55 rear) and all work fine. I have kept all service records the last 30 years and am afraid to add them up (Ha!) but I have and do enjoy the car. My 17 year son learned to drive in it b4 he got his 17 Camaro rs 9/30/17. It's asleep in my 80 year old Mom's 3 car garage across the street needing a brake job next month ( probably a caliper again as this was a weakness in this model. I enjoy the vette and looks like I'm gonna keep it. Only regret? I stupidly sold my 70 SS396 4 speed Chevelle (Fathom Blue-white stripes & white buckets - air - gauges ) to buy it. It had been my dream car and had had a rebuild and frame on restoration. I just wanted a vette that summer. Who knew the Chevelle would be a $60K or so car today. BTW, my late Grandfather, a Chevy salesman told me to always change the oil every 3K with Havoline 10W-40, and a car would last. I have in the vette and and his words and my vette roll on. Sorry for writing "War and Peace - Automotive wise."

I have a 2012 Camaro I got in 2011 and it currently has 36k miles on it. It rarely goes on long trips as my work has always been less than 10 miles away and rarely on highways. I get one oil change every year and regular inspections. Stock brake pads are just about done so I need to replace those. Other than that no issues whatsoever except for the fact my car only came with half of the required bolts to the engine. (Odd I know).

In 1987 I bought a 1985 Camaro with 2.8 V-6 with 28,000 that I ran hard and sold it with about 110,000 miles and really put nothing into it but tires and brakes. Have it checked over and if you like buy a warranty. Bear |

No, I don't take the car out from the day I put it away, usually at the end of October or first week of November, until April 1st or later. There has to be no salt whatsoever before I take it out. One year, that was in May! |
