Yeah, you're going to hear that on every message board. I've never had an issue with my A8, I'm only at 17,000, but no issues thus far. The only issue I've had is rear end groan. This seems to be a common issue with the Camaro & Corvette and goes away with driving.

The interior quality of the 6th gen is way better and the exterior is much better looking more modern and menacing.

The automatic transmission in the 6th gen. It's an 8 speed instead of a 6 speed. Some users on here have had issues with theirs. But on a message board you're going to have more people complaining then talking about how smoothly their transmission works everyday. I'd be hitting the message board if I had issues too.

But that's what warranty is for. You're covered for 5 years if you do have an issue. No car is perfect.

owned both. 6th gen, no contest. in the 5th gen I really felt the weight of the car in the corners, the 6th gen hides her weight incredibly well.

Nicer:
Heated Steering Wheel (2SS)
Car Play/Android Auto
Ventilated Seats (2SS)
Visibility out the front a little better (lower Dash height)
Color DIC with much more adjustability
Color HUD (2SS)
Dual Zone Climate (2SS)
Car feels much more nimble
Drive Modes (Snow,Tour,Sport,Track)
More Power (455hp/455tq)
Rev Match (manual trans)
Interior Lighting

I can't think of anything that the 5th gen had that I wish was on the 6th gen. I would never trade for a 5th, even a ZL1.
There are a few other safety and electronic goodies, too. Some consider the wireless charger a gimmick and the safety features superfluous, but they're there, and to each their own of course.

Rear park assist (2SS)
Side blind zone alert & Lane change alert (2SS)
Rear cross traffic alert (2SS)
Wireless phone charger (2SS)

A8 (8 -Speed Auto) so far no issues with my 17.

There is also the option of maqnetic ride control, which on the 5th Gen was only available on the ZL1 trim.

I guess I have the unpopular opinion here.

I'll be getting a 5th instead of a 6th when I return from this deployment.

I'm forcing myself to a strict price limit without shorting myself out of an SS. 5th gen 2SS it is for me. $20,000 looks better than $45,000. And the 5th gen has a special place in my heart, so it will have a place in my garage too.

To each their own I guess.

Well you are on Cam6 not Cam5, and the pseudo rivalry is to be expected.

And 45k?? eesh. You can get SS's used for under 30, and new for mid 30's. But really can't go wrong with either car. Most of us have owned both.

Maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places. The lowest I've seen were high 30's. Most are in the 40's though.

You’re in North Dakota, that’s why haha. I picked mine up in Rogers, MN because ND had no Camaros when I got mine.

6th Gen won me, 5th Gen not even close

The chassis...I would have driven the V6 if I had to. I drove a 5th gen SS to see if I could save some money and get the same thrill...NOPE. The car just amazed me (the 6cyl and even the 4cyl). Brakes, handling, ergonomics.

I have 25,000 on my '17 1SS - 4th set of rear, 3rd set of front tires. Tracked it twice at The Thermal Club. With the Pilot 4S's don't even need the traction control (I went to the ZL1 size wheels and tires). The groan in the differential disappeared just like they said it would, as it broke in. And the 8L90 transmission works just fine. The only regret I have is no MRC...

Trust me, I've accepted that I'll be driving out of state to get something close to what I want.

That is what I did to be exact 1152 miles to get the 6th Gen I wanted and drive her back home to Florida.
