Headers or no? Is it worth it?

I'm looking to put a Borla ATAK cat back exhaust system on my 2010 SS LS3 and was wondering if you guys think a set of long tube headers is worth it? I would also be doing high flow cats. My car is not a daily driver but a weekend warrior/car show car. Any problems with throwing codes with headers and aftermarket cats? Are performance gains noticible by adding more than just a cat back? I want it loud so I will never say it's too loud.

In CA I will not risk problems with Smog. Even so, installing Shorties, along with these JBA HFC's has been definitely worth the time, money, and effort!

LT's are the way to go for slightly better airflow, but let me tell you that the real gain is getting rid of the stock cats with either straight mid pipes, or high flow cats... plus the tune of course.

I used Diablo Intune for a good while before getting on the dyno. The dyno fine tuned things and did give me a nice bump... but the Diablo Intune worked great in preventing codes, checking codes when I did get one (still use it for that), and tuning the car (in a good, but limited way).

Long tubes make great hp gains and support future mods. Either get a mail order tune from DynoSteve (he is on this forum) or a dyno tune.

More than HP, they help with the torque and sound.......Def. worth it. But as mentioned above. To get full benefit, you will need a tune

Contact DynoSteve on here and he can better explain why you "need" a tune

Absolutely worth it, absolutely will throw a CEL eventually without a tune, and you can get a canned tune but a custom one will make the vehicle perform better.

Get an SCT X4 from DynoSteve and a custom tune. There is no other option that has this value since he gives you free custom tunes for life when you buy the SCT X4 tuner from him.

Definitely worth it. It is required to get a tune to maximize the gains. Its not a do or die situation to where you need to have it tuned as soon as you tighten the last bolt but shortly there after will be fine. I drove mine around for about two weeks before it finally popped a code. Sounded awesome as soon as I fired her up. I just didn't have time in my schedule to have it tuned right after install and it was my only mode of transportation. You will love them as SOON as turn that key

Let me know if I can help.
