2013 Camaro Z28?
2012 Dodge Charger Super Bee.
470 HP - 1/4 mile 12.8 secs. Base price should fall between the 2012 Charger SRT8 and 2012 Dodge Charger R/T. Thinking 42K, 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 444 hp- 1/4 mile 12.4 secs. Base Price 40,995 Keep the faith, |

The super bee's will be every bit of 50k, they are an upgrade to the SRT8 package, not an in between model.

I wouldn't consider a Super Bee to be a Z28 competitor. I wouldn't really consider any Charger to be a Camaro competitor really. A well done Challenger T/A on the other hand ...

I don't consider Charger to be a competitor against Mustang or Camaro. It's in a different class.

Maybe the point is that the "Muscle Cars" are expanding within their products lines.

CLEARLY, there's a gaping hole in Camaro price points between a 2SS (mid-$30s, Base) and a ZL1 (mid-$50s, Base). One would logically expect a "suitable, competitive, badge-worthy" Camaro to fill that yawning cavern...
And what could that market-correct Camaro possibly be?! Gosh...I wonder...and hope...and pray... |

The Super Bee will bee a stripped down SRT8, big motor (470hp) but no luxuries. Will cost mid 40k.

Where is everybody getting this $50k tag from? You can get a Charger SRT8 for $46's now. Plus the fact that Dodge is releasing the Stage 1, 2, 3 for the R/T's is something that will also be competitive in pricing compared to the SRT8's.

Are you feeling lucky?
This sure sounds like the 60's all over again. Keep in mind, the "hay day" of the muscle car era lasted only 3-4 years (1967-1970) before it fell victim to regulation, world politics and the oil embargoes. While the "current platform" of "affordable" production car muscle has been simmering for a year or so, it seems it will come to a BOIL in the next two years. The 2012 Camaro ZL1 will certainly be amongst the "top of the heap" as far as true street able production race cars is concerned. Exotic almost. Extinction could be close as well. Soon we should see the Mighty Z of fame. If history does indeed repeat itself, IRAN blocks the Straights of Hormuz etc, or whatever, you could be witnessing the HEIGHT of "this era"... Just saying. I can see another couple years of development, but then a retracement to more practical ways. It has been 43-45 years since we've seen this type AUTO MENU being served up to us as consumers. That means, ONCE IN A LIFETIME. Chrysler? Chevy? Ford? It doesn't really matter - when the game is over, you will be fortunate to have been a talent scout, a coach, a team owner, a player, or just a spectator. It's a great time for some of us who are getting a little long in the tooth to be here. Like Old Jedi says, being able to have one of these in your own garage, and be able to just look at it in person, crank it up and listen to the idle, AT 3 AM nonetheless, is priceless. To those of you who really aren't sure what this means in historical terms, check it out. For those of you who are not healthy enough to care or enjoy it, we understand. But whatever happens, the next two years or so will likely represent a peak in development for awhile. Just a while... but maybe for an entire next generation.

Not that I want it to stop, but expected something to have put the brakes on the new horsepower war by now.
