Draining fuel tank

Need to get the fuel out of the tank for a new build, any good way without dropping it?

Can I siphon it out one of the lines under the car through the pump?

Flip it upside down and shake. Lol. I dunno. I would be interested in hearing how its done. How full is it? Dropping it with a quarter tank shouldn't be too bad.

It's full for storage, that's why I need to drain it. Too heavy for this old man to drop it.

Could probably use a might vac pump to get it out.

Scanner software can run the pump with the engine off.

I would say the best way is to remove the fuel pump and then suck it out, but it looks like the fuel tank must be removed. Can you access the filler tube where it meets the tank? I'd disconnect there and start the siphon process.

Might be an option, I'll have to crawl under and check it out.

I forgot about that, prob the best option. I have HPT Pro so it should be in there. Thanks!

I wouldn't drain it by using the fuel pump, just this risk of sucking up any sediment at the bottom of the tank could damage the pump itself. You never know what's in that tank, even on a vehicle that new.

Holds 19 gal, I'll take out 17 or so, it'll be close enough to empty for my purpose.. I can stop when the Low Fuel light pops on. Pump pickup has a sock on it and with 3k miles total on it running an ethanol blend, it should be pretty clean anyway. Thanks.

After removing more gas tanks than I want to recall, even when I was 26, and I could pick up my 455 engine block, a gas tank with a couple gallons in it was very hard to handle
