I wouldn't have a dealer replace the oil pump proactively you are asking for problems. Good chance you would have some 17 year old kid third day on the job taking the engine out, replacing it and sealing it back up, who knows about competence or experience. Higher likely hood of issues after replacement if not done correctly (timing set properly, aligned properly or even sealed properly) might as well wait for it to fail and pull over/turn car off. Or go to a performance shop who does LT builds like Cordes since they get a lot of NM cars out in Tempe.

On side note, if you are doing oil pump proactively you should consider adding a cam at same time since front cover will be off.

I am very lucky to have an absolutely excellent tech at the dealer I take my car to. He has serviced it since day one, and has always done perfect work. I have 100% confidence he will do an excellent job.

What age and mileage are these pumps going out at? Pretty soon in life or later down the road?

I think the highest mileage failure I can recall was around 13k and under.

To be sure, just gotta scroll through the pages.

I'm pushing 13k on my '18 now, 9k of them in the past 6 months so far all has been okay although I'm keeping an eye on things and waiting now that it's getting close.

I wonder if you hit 20k without issue, then you can relax a bit owning a 17-18?

So much for the statistically insignificant argument

For those with oil pump failure, I wonder how many have done an oil analysis prior to failure. I just did one at 929 miles and still very low miles but I will do one for the foreseeable future.
