NEED HELP GETTING A DETAILED REPAIR REPORT

I am looking at a couple different vehicles that are salvaged titled. The place I looking to buy them says they have no such detailed information on the car.

They purchase these cars that are wrecked and sell them whole, they do not part them out. It seems weird they wouldn't have the reports, but I have already asked them point blank.

I am trying to find a way to get a detailed repair report. It seems that the insurance company would have it, but I called my insurance company if they could look it up and they said no.

carfax will tell you that the car had an accident and if there were airbags deployed and if there is frame damage, but that doesn't tell the whole story.

So, does anyone know how to get this detailed information on a car?

Here is the vin of one of the cars if that helps:

Pay for your own appraisal. Hire a guy. Otherwise it may be impossible to come up with unlesss you know the insurance Co. that totaled it, or the Body shop that wrote it off. In this day and age, that could be anyone and anywhere.

Also, some (many) accidents NEVER get to Carfax...

There are independent appraisers, or hire a body shop guy. I'd wander through Google for someone in the area this yard is in..

An ISO report will have the claim number and insurance company info but I'm not sure if ISO will do a retail report.

I can't run one for you unfortunately.

Also, the salvage yard it was purchased through might tell you the insurance company that totaled it.

It really is for enterprise users so I doubt you'll be able to do much on it. I would call the phone number to see if they offer a retail report for your VIN number.

First I would just see which salvage yard sold it and then call them to see which insurance company totaled it. Then, call that insurance company and they should be able to maybe send you the estimate.

If you PM to remind me, I'll look at CoPart's site on Tuesday. If it went through there I might be able to see which company totaled it. If it went through IAA I won't be able to see.

I'm an independent appraiser in the Chicagoland area and highly doubt anyone will give you a copy of the report that was written previously. It's confidential unless under investigation and then only to the handling adjuster/appraiser/investigator/etc. on the case. You would need to hire an appraiser in the area of the vehicle and they still need access to the vehicle to properly assess the damage. That unit is in CA so look up inspectors on the Copart website. I've inspected many vehicles for people.

Sites like Carfax will at least give you some info on vehicles at a reasonable fee.

Every car a insurance company totals, must have a itemized damage appraisal and that appraisal must be given to the salvage yard so the yard can sell the entire salvaged vehicle to the buyers. Find out who the insurance co. was and or the salvage co. that sold the car. Provide the Vin and you should get the damage appraisal.

Copart cannot sell the salvaged vehicle without a damage appraisal. It is not confidential info. That appraisal of damages follows the vehicle.
