This break in crap has been a beef for ever on this site. If you wanna break it in DO IT, if you don't wanna break it in DON'T. Its your money your car. BUT I wouldn't go to crazy especially If your coming from a V6(like I will be soon!) to the SS which is probably the half the reasons why you see so many smashed up maros with very few miles on them. HAVE FUN YOLO!!

I am on day 103 of ownership and I have around 1300 miles on my car and have been following break in per the manual. Kinda regretting it since it seems like my 24 month lease will be up soon!

You're following break in for a lease? Drive it like you stole it

Hit 500 miles today and did some WOT runs from a stop.
Ever since I got the car I've been running up to 4K in 2nd or 3rd and then engine braking right after back to just above idle, and repeating, as often as possible when fully warmed up....the theory on that break in method made sense to me. |

Vehicle break-in threads .....
My opinion on a vehicle break in period is if you choose to follow it, quit crying about it and drive. Go 750 miles one way, turn around, and come back, when you get home, you'll be able to accel to 4001 rpms and you won't ever have to worry about your engine blowing up

My '13 SS 1LE had 26 miles when I drove it off the lot and promptly entered the highway to the tune of 6k rpms through a couple of gears. It always felt strong up until I sold it. Had Pfadt LTs with HF cats, intake, tune and put down 403 rwhp. One of the best maintenance items I installed was a catch can. Emptied every oil change and kept that garbage out of the intake system.

All of yall saying if you have a lease just let her rip and who cares about the break-in period. What about the next person who buys it? The guy or gal that can't afford a new one and has to get a used...They think they have a great car and in a few years it starts to burn oil possibly, drivetrain issues etc etc. and the warranty has expired. Id be peed off!!!
