Clunk in rear passenger suspension

I've got a 1SS 6M (non-MRC), it's got just shy of 600 miles so far. For the past 50-60 miles I've noticed a clunking sound coming from the passenger rear suspension area. It doesn't happen often, usually over harder bumps, it doesn't even reciprocate over every medium to hard bump. Do you guys think I should make an appointment and bring it in to the dealer?

Aw man wth lol

That is why I'm hesitant to get aftermarket springs since my suspension warranty will be voided.

Maybe it is related to the toe-link issue?

Please let us know! I have 350 miles and no noise or anything.

Also, with the tremec transmission, if you're going up a driveway or speedbump slowly you can experience driveline chatter.

It's normal even in the MT82 trannys

Get your tow link inspected. Most likely slightly damaged and will be come a lot worse as you corner or hit bumps. Another thing, have them check the fluid level of the rear diff. It could've been filled 1 quart less (some had a factory issue with it) and now caused gears in it to get shaved and even break off.

At first I thought it was because I had two fold out chairs in the trunk, when I went to take them out I noticed the tow bar was sitting above the trunk mat. I don't remember it being out out all before. So I put it back under the mat where it belongs and I didn't hear the sound for a little bit. Then suddenly I heard it a couple times last night.

I did have custom 3" exhaust put on and the guy did say that it only had about 1/4-1/2" of clearance going through the cross member. I suppose it could be that, but that's in the center about mid way down the car so the sound doesn't quite match up.

I think you just answered your own question....

I wouldn't waste your dealers time because you know he'll blame it on this..

Okay first of all you can chill out with the judgement their guy. It's people like you that make using these forums a PIA. WHERE DID I BLAME CHEVY!!! Wow leap frog, jump to conclusions much? The cross member sits nearly right in between the two seats. I've had trans mounts go bad on my 3rd gen and know exactly what a clunk in that area sounds and feels like. This sound is very clearly coming from the passenger rear suspension area. On top of that this is a suspension clunk, similar to a bad front strut, not a "tiny" exhaust sound.

"Hacked the exhaust", this shop does a couple thousand custom exhaust jobs each year, they have two bays and two amazing techs that soley do custom exhaust 40-50hrs a week. The guy who did mine is know as the best exhaust guy around this area. The exhaust was done properly with flex pipes to allow for engine movement. He personally went over the entire exhaust system with me under the car.

If that were the case, why didn't I notice this sound during the first 500 miles of driving the car. The exhaust was put on the day after I picked the car up and had less than 30 miles on it when I it river at the shop.

Go To to your exhaust guy first. Unless it's a really obvious suspension problem your dealer will still blame the exhaust.

I'll probably do that, simply because I'd like the exhaust to be louder so I've been planning to change to a more agressive muffler. I'll have him do a once over on the system. But honestly the sound and location doesn't match up at all with the cross member or and exhaust pipe hitting something.

May surprise you. Undercarriage sounds can telegraph themselves around. Oftentimes, what you "know" you hear may have a completely different source..
