Delivery/First Impressions
First off, I would like to thank Becky Doyle and Rodgers Chevrolet one more time for being awesome. I'll start this off with some pictures and a video and then I'll get to my impressions. It's a 2SS Mosaic Black, M6, Adrenaline Red interior, NPP, MRC, and Nav. Sticker was $46,420.
Exterior The pictures of the 6th gen really do not do it justice. In person the car is much more sharp and chiseled. The front end is menacing, the sides are very sleek, and the rear (which I'm not a huge fan of) seems to "pop" much more when in person. The spoiler has been a controversial topic, but I actually like the way it looks. I'm not a huge fan of the tail lamps, however I think the blacked out option from GM looks very good and I can't wait to order a set or tint the red portion of the current ones. The SS badge on the rear is in a stupid spot, but the front looks good and the Camaro logo on the side looks good. The car is also noticeably smaller, especially when put side by side with the Z/28. Interior This is probably my favorite part about the 6th gen. The styling is really great, and there is a VERY noticeable increase in the quality of the materials. Lot's of leather and metal throughout, and just well put together. MyLink is good; it has a lot of features and it's very responsive. The interior, just like the exterior, looks and feels a lot smaller. The rear seat is even more useless compared to the 5th gen and the visibility is probably just as bad, but it never bothered me on the 5th gen and it doesn't bother me on this one. My only complaint is that the gauge cluster display is missing a lot of the screens and features of the Stingray. The performance menu only displays one thing at a time and it's just a lot of wasted display space. Oh and I HATE the electronic parking brake. Engine The first thing that I noticed with the LT1 was the torque: GM claims 455 lb/ft, but my butt dyno measured it at one metric ****-ton that's all available down low; the car pulls at any speed, in any gear. The characteristics of the engine are VERY similar to the LS7 in the Z/28. The biggest difference between the LS3 and the LT1 is the power delivery. The LS3 has noticeable peaks and valleys in the power band, whereas the LT1 is extremely linear all the way up to redline (just like the LS7). The second thing that I noticed about the LT1 is that it is not as free revving as the LS3 or the LS7. On the LS engines I felt like the redline came up too quickly, whereas the LT1 screams to redline and feels like the cutoff is "just right". The NPP sounds great in track mode and for $900 it's a no-brainer. I also want to note that the engine compartment is much nicer looking than the 5th gen. Transmission It's the same TR-6060 we all know and love. It's much smoother than my 2012 and on par with the Z/28. The throw is slightly longer than the short throw option in the 5th gen, but still shorter than a S550 GT. The rev match is a really cool but practical feature, and I see it making me a very lazy manual driver. Suspension The roads were wet today so I didn't really get to push it hard in the corners or get anywhere near the limits of the car. From my limited experience it's clear that the car is much more agile than the 5th gen. Turn in is much sharper and there's less body roll. The steering is also weighted very nicely and is pretty responsive. If I had to describe it in one word I would say "nimble", which is crazy considering that it's a Camaro. The Mag Ride is magic and I would recommend it to anyone that plans on using the car as a daily or even a weekend car. It rides like a Mercedes E Class when in tour mode, a 1LE when in sport mode, and one notch back from a Z/28 when in track mode. It's well worth the $1600. Overall I'm really impressed and I can't wait to drive it more; it's so much better than a 5th gen. If I skipped anything that you wanted to know just ask! And here's one last picture of our whole Rodger's Chevrolet stable: Last edited by mikeyg36; 12-29-2015 at 08:03 PM. |

That's a great looking cars. Going to be my EXACT setup and options except I'm getting black wheels. Congrats and thanks for the photos. Please add them and others in the Mosaic Black thread! I still have a tough time seeing the flake in the mosaic black in photos. Does it pop more in person than non-metallic black?? Pictures don't seem to do it justice.

Your z is pretty serious and actually sits lower. I'm sure you'll lower the new one as I will. I have a 15 that I lowered and went to look at a 16 and 15 had the better stance. You have some nice rides, enjoy. I have a feeling you won't leave it stock

Thanks! It's worth the wait! Thank you. Thank you! I'm going to be getting the wheels painted gloss back soon. I wanted black rims but I'd rather just get them painted instead of waiting 2 months for an order. |

I added to my above post: I still have a tough time seeing the flake in the mosaic black in photos. Does it pop more in person than non-metallic black?? Pictures don't seem to do it justice.

Yes it definitely pops more in person. The flakes are mostly blue-ish color which is why they don't really show up as well in pictures. |

They actually delivered it to your house?? That's service!
Nice looking car, but I have to give the nod to the Z-28, that thing is bad ass.. |

They delivered all 3 of them to our house all the way from Michigan; Great service, great delivery driver. The 2016 is pretty aggressive but the Z/28 is "eat your face and kill your whole family" aggressive

Cool, I see a lot of you in the way I do things, don't do it half assed, just do it. I'm only doing a 1ss because I plan on modding it a shit load. I really like my 2ss, but I want to add at least 150 hp to the 16, so I'll use the 5-7 k to do that. That service from your dealer is 1st class. What did they charge you to bring that distance? I don't like the spoiler on the 16, that's gonna have to change. Maybe one off the Lt. Its really noticeable on your z compared to your 16. Yuck, just not for me.
