OP I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot comprehend what you're going through but you and your family are in my prayers.

This country takes DUI so incredibly casual compared to many other countries in the world. Our elected officials have increased the penalties over the years but still it's very lax and much more work is needed.

Since the 1990s its seems like organizations like MADD and SADD have faded into the background. They were serious driving forces 20 years ago in setting tougher punishment for DUI and you barely hear from them today.

I've always thought DUI penalties should be draconian, severe, and extremely tough. And I believe in zero tolerance, like Germany. They treat drunk drivers about as hard as armed robbers. You can be looking at serious fines and hard core prison time just for your first DUI. The second they find you are over the limit of .05 they arrest you, confiscate and SELL your car. You have no court recourse for this. You lose your car and go to prison on your FIRST DUI offense.

Please don't let life get in the way from spending time with them. As for the car it's just not a good idea anymore. I need to focus on my wife and new baby. Everyone on the forum is such a great group of people I just wanted to share my story with y'all. Thanks far al the help when I was in the process of ordering the Zl1. For now I need to work through this horrible nightmare and be there for my wife. Thank you all. And please please don't drink and drive.
Jesus, I don't know you but my prayers go out to you brother. I can't imagine what you are going through. Stay strong!!!
