Installed headers, no cats, removed rear O2's and tuned my car. IF anything breaks I know I can fix it simply because I'm already a mechanic. I have never really liked warranty fixes anyway because if they think they can fix it quickly they will try since the dealer makes no money from doing warranty work as they would with regular paying customers.

When to mod
LOL, I have a factory order that's supposed to be made the week of March 3 and hopefully I'll get it a couple of weeks after that.
In the meantime, I am spending WAY too much time on this forum learning about various mods. The result is I've got almost $1000 in aftermarket stuff incoming. As soon as I get it home from the dealer it's getting a catch can and 1LE separator. Then an intake. Then a skip shift eliminator. Then a ported TB. Then gills. Then......... |

I tuned mine with only 17k miles on her and not paid off. Adding headers and a custom tune next month not to mention all the other mods Ive done. Life is short and if anyone knows that its me. Long story but let's just say I won't grow old so I'm going to enjoy this car as it will probably be my last. I dont worry about the what ifs and just do it

Wait only if you have to, but if you know you are going to mod, why wait? This is a great drivetrain....mod and enjoy!

as soon as you mod it you'll kick your self for not doing it sooner.

I voided mine after 4k miles. Car is not paid for, won't be until 2016. 0% financing, so I would be stupid to pay it off early, since it's free money. If it blew up tomorrow, I would simply repair it. I'm prepared for that possibility.

I waited about 12,000 miles to make sure the car I bought (new) didn't have any repeat warranty repair issues. My SS had been reliable as the proverbial refrigerator for 2 years and 34,000 miles.
1.49% credit union financing still in place. Tune and high flow cats at 14k miles, off to Vengeance Racing this week for headers, cam, and a few other supporting mods |

With my 2SS I was very disapointed in the handling. I ordered Pfadt sway bars and trailing arms and tie rod package. I also put on cat back and CAI. I would like to do more but won't. I remember all to well when GM came out with the 1st generation 4 speed overdrive automatic transmission. All the problems they had. Now here we go again, first generation 8 speed automatic transmission scares me a little. I will do everything to make sure not to void my warrenty and will most likely purchase the GMAC extended warrenty.

I just bought the car used last month. I thought it has a 8 speed automatic. Thank you very much for the info.
