Lowering the '17 ZL1

Wanted to bring this back up again. I know Phastek has lowered the one ZL1 here in Houston, but has anyone else explored this yet?

I have never just added lowering springs to a car, I've usually added additional components. My concern is that just dropping the car an inch will mess with the MRC, or simply just make the car less fun to drive.

ZL1_Tommy, Just curious if your ride height has settled out on your car since taking delivery?

It would be interesting to know what the effects on MRC will be. I won't be messing with mine but still interested.

from what i've heard it won't mess with ur MRC, but it will make the ride a bit rougher regardless..

I'm waiting for some solid answers to this as well. My front appears to have lowered slightly since purchase, but it's still in need of at least a 1 inch drop

ride quality depends on spring design and quality.

Had Pfadt springs on my 13 ZL1 and the ride wasn't that bad. I will be lowering my 17 ZL1 when I get it in.

I would think drop spindles would be the best way to go about this, no?

I remember when GM had introduced the MRC into it's line and there was an interview with one of GM's suspension engineer regarding after market changes to the suspension, i.e. lowering the car or even changing the wheel's size, and he said (not in exact words), that MRC is a complex machinery that is designed and calibrated with factory designed and developed parts. Changes to the suspension can throw off the MRC calibration and it's intended behavior.

Another words, leave it alone!

Drop spindles is always the way to do it and retain geometery, roll center and camber curves. Sadly not enough people take this route, so most times they are either really expensive, or just not produced. It is without any doubt the correct way to do it. The 5th gen had a product in the works but it was abandoned due to costs and load certification requirements.

The most a set of four drop spindles can be reasonably priced is $600-$700.

We had some parts that lower the front of the car by 3/4 and let you change camber at the same time this week, there only prototypes so far, more testing going to them this weekend, know you will like them, i have 2 sets on order when there out.
