Even if you set it to track all the time it will still close the valves when you're cruising or at light throttle. Pulling the fuse is the only way to keep them open 100% of the time. That or with an aftermarket tune. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I recently came out of a loaded 2 SS A8 that I daily drove. I actually leased it and put about 30k miles on it. Drove it through the winter and I tracked it a few times. I found a great deal on a used 19 1SS 1LE that I couldn’t pass up. It definitely has less bells and whistles but I do not find that I miss those. I’m not daily driving the 19, it solely a toy for driving on nice days and tracking. The manual trans in the 6th gen is really good. I like it but truth is that I’d prefer an A10 in that 1LE package.

And how is the SS1LE street driving compared to your prior SS?

Im a big weekend drag racer. And honestly the 1LE really bummed me out at the track. It was very hard to get a consistent launch with it. It had me wishing for an auto. I eventually traded out of mine and have had several other cars with autos, that have been great at the track. Now I want back in a camaro, but I need the A8. No more manuals for me. I had to DD my 1LE as well and that was fun for a minute, but when you are tired or want to scarf a burger as you are driving, thats tough in a manual. But they are fun to play with. But for me I'd do the opposite you did. Get rid of the 1LE and get a 2SS A8. But congrats.

Nearly half of your most recent posts are about A8 bashing and you don't even have that trans any longer. We all get it, the shudder is a problem and GM is not forthcoming or eager to solve it once and for all, but I don't think it needs that level of personal reinforcement.

1LE was designed for a track with turns, not a drag strip, so not really the 1LE's fault.
When I got my first '06 GTO I was into straight line racing so I bought an automatic, now I enjoy turns much more, bought the 1LE. You really need to buy the car that fits your plans/needs.
