Where I grew up, Seattle, the parking lot at my High School was always filled with Camaro's, Nova's, Vette's and GTO's. I have always loved Camaro's and have owned 4 now. I have design issues with my new RS/SS and also feel like it does not respond as quickly as I had hoped. I took a huge chance on buying it without first driving it.
I consider it my "midlife crisis". I don't know if I can drive it till it's paid off and have actually considered selling it while the market for the car is hot as well. I like the way it looks except for the fake vents infront of the rear tires. I wish the hood scoop/bump was a bit higher as well. I know that in the future there will be allot of modications available but am leary of voiding the warranty. First things first....the exhaust is weak and embarassing. It is allot funner that the 2000 VW Jetta TDI that I bought for the gas mileage.

My brother had a beautiful 2008 corvette, after he drove my 2SS/RS 6m he asked me if I would be willing to trade. Told him no, because first I love my car that has sexy hips and second I enjoy not sticking my son in the trunk if my husband is with me. He has since sold his vette and bought a yellow 2SS/RS. He doesn't regret it but he is not a speed junky either. He does enjoy chicks coming up to him everywhere he goes asking him if they can sit in his camaro. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I hope you get the car you want. I love my car, my perfect driving record, and low insurance so I think it is plenty fast enough. As far as the 370z in my opinion their just ugly. Go back to the vette at least their sexy! Good luck

And its the frivilous spending of those that don't have the money they borrow that put us in this mess such as GM. It's those people that sit home and rely on the liberals and their values to give them a handout because they are lazy and live beyond their means that put us in this mess. But, don't worry I'm doing fine because I work my @ss off everyday therefore I'm entitled to do what I please with the $ I earn year in and year out!

I'm glad your happy with your Camaro that you spent your hard earned dollar on, but if you weren't happy with it you would be upset that you spent it, am I correct? I just expect to get enjoymeny out of what I spen my money on. But like America these days and the direction it is gonig in the Camaro is a dissapointment in my opinion in which I'm entitled to, because I'm an American. Although, who knows how much longer we will all be entitled to our opinions with the communist and socialistic direction this country is headed towards. In which I guarantee you if it does most of us won't have these cars, because we won't have money and we'll all be equally poor. This country is based on Capitalism which is what made us the powerhouse we once were.
You know what, dude?...you had some creedance at first while discussing your review, but have since then lost all crediblity...and FYI, I'm a lifelong conservative and please don't associate your comments with true conservatism, alright? You rant about the irresponsibility of GM, yet you buy a camaro, moan about it, then talk about buying a foreign car. You consistently contradict yourself, and it has become apparant that you were never a real GM fan from the start. I even question your experience with a corvette.
The bottom line is, you're not happy with your camaro, and hey, that's alright...no foul. So why don't you cease lurking in a camaro forum and sell your car and move on over to a Nissan forum, and..."don't let the door hit-ya where the Good Lord split-ya," alrighty?
Peace out!

The car feels heavier than it is, the vision out of it is very oddly shaped. And this car is not violently quick, which isn't a big deal but after driving a Vette for 4 years it isn't the same. But, I knew the Camaro wouldn't be a Vette. It seems I let the hype and nostalgia of this vehicle persuade me to have to have one in my driveway immediately. I always loved Vettes and Camaros, but once you get past the cool factor of this car and the fact that is has a Vette motor, without the Vette power, it just isn't doing it for me. Please don't flame me for coming on here and giving my honest opinion of the car. I just want others to know what the SS really has to offer.

The fact is I love sports cars and the Camaro is not a sports car it's a sports coupe! Forget the fact that GM is advetising this car as the "Sports Car of the 21st Century!" It is not a sports car. It handles poorly when driving in tight mountain roads which I love to do with my toys. Too much body roll and steering isn't tight enoguh.

I'm afraid that my worst fears have come true about this car. Ever since the first test in the magazine I figured this would happen. This car is great for what it is, but not for someone who really loves sports cars and what sports cars really are. Sports cars are fun to drive in all situations, Camaro doesn't fit the bill all the time. A sports car communicates with its driver at all times, Camaro puts you on hold most of the time. These cars are sports coupes trying to reveive the muscle car era big engines go fast. Yes they obviously turn alot better and brake better than ever, and the Camaro is also very suitable for highway driving and comfortable on bumpy roads, but it isn't enough.

I need to enjoy driving my car and I'm sharing this info for others to read that haven't purchased the Camaro and haven't driven one yet. I'm not saying to listen to me I think you should go drive one. Who knows you mgiht fall in love with one. But, there needs to be criticism here, this fanboy atmosphere of I don't care what you think because you killing the Camaro. I'm entitled to my opinion especially after forking over $35k for a Camaro. And people that haven't purchased one need to see this criticism of the car, because you are on a Camaro forum and it is very unlikely that you will get a non biased opinion because this is the Camaros home for fans.

I've tried to love this car, I really have, but I shouldn't have to. The car has ben so hyped that it falls way short in my opinion. And hopefully GM gets their act together and brings out a Camaro that is better handling and lighter. I will be test driving some 370Z's this weekend and I know they will be a fun car to drive nothing is final in my decision yet, but the Camaro ma have just lost another valued cutomer that GM needs!
the back seat should of told you it was not a sports car, sports cars have only 2 seats.
IT IS A MUSCLE CAR! Hence the cool factor.
Trust me for all the fan boy there has been much criticism regarding the handling (self included), and guess what?, GM is offering a solution.

Rule of life don't jump in head first if you haven't tested the water first!

the good news is you should be able to get most of your money back and put that towards a sports car which the camaro is not. GM's most sporty and high performance car is the vette. I thought about vettes a bit but decided to go with the camaro because I think it looks cooler and it seems everybody has a vette. I will never be taking it to the mountains and racing around corners at high speed, ever. Fast take offs and acceleration is all I care about.

I ordered an SS for sticker, will put a supercharger and exhaust on it and it should be a real nice muscle car that didn't cost a fortune. The camaro is very much a comprimise car, it's not designed to outperform the corvette or other sports cars. It's all about style and muscle. It has a very decent engine in it that can easily be upgraded to put you in the 500-600HP range to go fast in a straight line.

Haven't had the pleasure of driving my SS yet(TPW 9/7). However, do drive an 09 Vette Convertible daily with 436 hp and at 3200 or so pounds it is violently fast. I know the SS will put up great numbers, but I know on the front end it will not, nor was it meant to be, beyond a Vette. The Corvette is not only GM's 'halo' performance car, it is on par with the best the world has to offer. The SS is an extremely strong running pony car with looks to kill for in my opinion.

If you are not happy with your SS, then by all means purchase what makes you happy(not meant in mean spirited way). But keep in mind that the 370, though a very nice car, will not have the 'violent' acceleration of the Vette(not much does). I would also be shocked if the 370 would accelerate any better(maybe not as well because of less torque) than your SS.
Just do what makes you happy for life is to short my friend.

if you were that disappointed going from a vette to a camaro. you will be even more dissapointed going from a vette, camaro, 370.
You might as well go for a porsche if handling and speed is what you seek. Probably has exactly what you are looking for. Lots of luck selling it and getting in a car you are not dissapointed in.

I will wait for my SS to come and drive it like i stole it!!

All the information was there that you need. Weight ~3900 pounds. Hp 400/426 etc...etc...4 seats.

You were expecting a Corvette in a car that has less power and more weight...and you're not going to find anything better unless you pay for the upgrades.

Guess you have to live & learn...but I'm just saying, the 370 is going to be the same thing as a Corvette, with less power, (are they the same weight?). Doesn't seem like you're learning from this experience at all.

I'm not bashing, but you posted here for a reason & I'm giving you my input.

I have owned vettes before and love them. But now that I'm older and have a family to me the Camaro was a better fit. I just not a fan of 2 seaters anymore. Also I personally think it is time for a face lift on the vettes. They have had a very similar look for a while now. That is another reason for the Camaro in my books. But I totaly understand that this car is not for everyone. I just hate that you don't love this car like most people do. If you get a vette post pics of it because I love all American muscle cars!
