When I had my 2010 1LT going from East Tennessee to Kenly North Carolina I regularly got 32 to 33 mpg, but on the return trip it was always 26 to 28 mpg.... Elevation change did a lot to affect it.

That's true. Going to Dallas from Arlington I get 24.5; coming back 26.5...
25.5 avg...in Average Dallas traffic...(i.e. not so good). At first I thought I was driving differently, then remembered "uphill" vs "downhill". Never would have noticed otherwise.

personally, my favorite ones are the magical cars that can defy the laws of physics and get such great mileage at 70 and 80 mph. I suppose the owner have coated them with some special treatment that allows them to get around drag and the fact that larger, heavier vehicles get their best mileage at lower speeds.

anyhow, always fascinates me how people need to lie about this stuff. is it just pathological or what?

why do these cars have such crappy gas milage

Heavy car with big V8 engine. Around town it takes alot to get it moving and idling sucks down fuel.

Although the low end torque does give this car good mileage once it gets going on the highway.

I get 99.9 MPG. For one, this proves that V6s are better. Sure, I am only 35" tall, weigh 45 lbs, and I always drive naked... and I removed the glass, the upholstery (I can stand while I drive), the radio, AC, hood, trunk, doors, and even the paint. Tires are unnecessary weight, so it's rims only for me. I never rev the thing over 1000 RPM (it DOES make for slow freeway merges, I'll admit), and only run 1/4 of the "suggested" water in the radiator.
