LETS DISCUSS DRAG RACING A ZL1
I hope the mods leave this thread in this section.I think we should have this available for all who read in this section.
Now,I would like to hear from all of you who have drag raced your car at the strip and help all of us who have not and who is getting ready for that "Big Race" against someone. It does not matter if you have a auto or a standard give us pointers to help us win the most races we can. Tell us what you are running horsepower wise, tires, tire pressure, launch rpms with your setup and most important, your times in the eighth mile, thousand ft,and quarter mile if available. I think this would help anyone who is just beginning to get into the ZL1 and would also help the builders who make these cars run so good sell more builds. So please give us all of the info you can about your drag racing experience!! |

I want to take mine to the track. Never been. Think I'll just smoke the tires and pull a 17.50...lol. Still waiting to reach the 2400km mark too. I'll sit back and read!

first thing first i would buy some drag radials. i purchased a set of 18in corvette wheels and added the MT ET Streets ll DR. if you drag race with your stock tires, all your going to do is spin them. i usually set my tire pressure at 20psi and maybe go as low as 18psi. i launch my car at 1500rpms. i am at 594rwhp (mustang dyno) and my 1/4 times are around 11.1 @ 123-126 with a 60ft of 1.6-1.7 and 1/8 @ 7.1

I know that thread is over there in the other section but I hope this one stays here. I would think all of the ZL1 owners would want to know how all of us are doing at the track.

I just ordered some M/H drag radials and 17 inch weld wheels for my car with the skinnies up front and as soon as I get them mounted I am going to try my car out. I have a ADM built motor with 711 whp and I hope I see low,low 11's. I would think the car should do that and it is an auto tranny car so that should help me!

I'm at 600rw and have a hanful of 11.0@125-127mph slips with mid to low 1.6's. That's pump gas and full weight.
At 700rw you should be able to go mid to low 10's @ 132-134 with 60's in the 1.5's. Especially with some seats pulled and Welds and skinnies. |

Big time would love to see pics of your weld setup when you have them Installed. I have a SIM auto and am thinking I want the polished welds. Which wheel and tire setup did you go with?
I ran 12.0@118 with my zl1 stock on a 90 degree day. You should be high to mid 10 ' s. I got the stock tires pretty hot and sticky with a nice burnout and was able to hit high 1.7 to low 1.8's 60 ft. I plan on going back when the weather gets cooler. Mine made 469rwhp on a dynojet. I didn't drop tire pressures either so that would of helped me. I was leaving around 1200 rpms. Hope this helps you. Let us k ow how you do. I am going to start doing g mods when I have the supercharger replaced. Good luck! Last edited by Cooks ZL1; 08-08-2014 at 09:09 PM. Reason: none |

If you can't get 700rw into the 10's, something seriously wrong.
