I actually made a half assed attempt to trade my 2015 1LE for a 2017 1LE.

I knew trade in would be dismal, but when they offered me $23,500 for a car that stickered for over 43 I just had to laugh.

I think that is a big part of the problem. Camaro depreciation is brutal, and many guys simply can't afford to trade theirs in for a new model and because their car isn't worth jack shit after you drive off the lot.

I hate to break it to some of you, but the Camaro was never intended to be exclusive. Exclusivity with a relatively low MSRP doesn’t pay the bills. GM needs the Camaro to sell. Camaro fans need the car to sell. Merica needs the Camaro to sell. God bless the USA, God bless the mullet.

I traded my 14 Cyclone mustang in for a 16 GT and had to carry $10,000 in finance on the GT for an out the door price of $41,000. At least I went from 5% interest to 0% for 72 months. The Camaro will sell better if merica can offer better paying jobs soon. Money talks.

Where I live I see a lot of Dodge commercials showing off the hot cars. Also see some Mustang commercials, Never see a Camaro commercial at all.

Besides having competitive pricing (which we are high) & a superior platform (which we have), you gotta market what you build (which we don't).

I don't know about most of you, but my '17 1SS is my one and only car. But I'm also a single guy, no kids, so maybe that makes it practical enough for me. I'll admit, getting my golf clubs in is a chore compared to me '06 RSX Type S, my last car. But that a very minor complaint.

I think a lot of the challenger sales were due to the massive discounts on remaining 2016's last month. I was torn between buying the challenger and the 6th gen ( ended up with the 2 SS ) the main reason I looked at the challenger was the price. Every dodge lot in CO had at least 10+ 2016 Challenger ScatPack shakers in stock, and they were 10k or more off sticker. I found it odd that there were virually no 2016 6th gens left anywhere in the state, but an over abundance of challengers. I guess if you give something away, people will take it right ?

So for the people who are saying the car isn't selling well because of the reasons listed (looks, price, visibility, etc), then what ARE the reasons it isn't selling?

The 6th gen is a great car. But there is some reason (or reasons) it is not selling well - what is it then?

Getting beat the Challenger? That's unbelievable.

No It's not, the Camaro is in the top 10 (available production) cars for the slowest depreciation.

Trucks & compacts sell Camaro is not a main money making car. Never was never will be. Winter here white out conditions in Ontario might effect some sales. Discounts on the dodge might sweeten the pot. And if the mustang guys seen the new one 2018 refresh there rushing in to get the better looking one before it ends bumpers are horrible on the 2018.

And the challenger is one of the worst. Which is why Dodge gives them great lease rates otherwise they would sit even longer on the lots.

Mustangs sell well because they are very affordable, but it's not a fair metric because the Camaro costs a little more but performs much better IMO. The V6 w/ 1LE can beat a V8 Mustang on certain tracks... Head to Head even proved that the SS has almost identical performance to an M4.

Point being Camaro costs more but you get more, not everyone knows that, they just see the price tag and go with the cheaper option, because lets be honest majority of consumers are not taking their car to the track, all they care about is 0-60 times.

It's too expensive. I'm going to buy one anyway but I have the disposable income. This is supposed to be the working mans car. It's now in the old retired wealthy bald guy price bracket. (That was just a fun poke at Corvette no butt hurt intended)
People call it a parts bin car like that some sort of bad thing. It's a great thing. Price it like one.
