V-6 guys. Oil change question

I have a SS so I'm not familiar with the engine configuration on the 6.. but Apparently the new Canyon/Colorado trucks have the same V-6 as the Camaro. Just wondering how hard it is to access the filter/drain plug for oil changes? I'd rather not have to take it to a garage and have to have it on a lift and all that crap just for access to the filter and such. My old Dakota I can just lay on the ground, no jack, shimmy underneath and get to the filter and plug without too much problem.

Not difficult at all. The filter is in the engine compartment, though.

LLT/LFX engine oil filters are on top of the engine.

To answer your question... unless you are only 8 to 10 inches thick, you will need to elevate your Camaro to get under it enough to drain the oil and fit a drain pan under there. Ramps will do.

I used to have a 2012 1LT.

The filter is right on top I think it's like 24mm or 32mm to remove the filter cap.

Also, use a torque wrench when putting it back on, I think it is 18 ft-lbs.

GM must not have thought the oil filter location out very well on this 3.6 since it is a cartridge filter for the most part on the Camaro and CTS. But on our Acadia's it is a spin on and in a PITA location if you want to try and change it out hot, since the cat is right there above it, you just about roast your arms getting to the filter. I don't see why they didn't just keep it a cartridge on the Acadia and other LAMDA platform vehicles.
