Car Payments?
None of you have to answer if you don't want but Im just curious as to what you payment is looking like. Reason I ask is because I REALLY want a ZL1 but got to see if its within my budget. I had my 2010 SS and was paying about $630 a month comfortably and figure if I could get somewhere close to that (within $100) that I might make the leap.
Just curious as to how much down, term and payment. Hahaha. At the end of the day, you all have a beautiful car and if I myself cant get one then Ill at least jump back into another V8 and just build it as I can. |

just depends how much you put down and length of loan...for me it was almost $1k/mnth(dang mortgage already, and add insurance, gas, tax/license, etc)..meh, maybe a gently used GT500 is a better option.

I have no payments but I am not wealthy. I forego immediate gratification and just save for five or more years first in order to pay cash for a car. It takes will power, but I have followed this regimen for the last thirty years and have paid cash for all of our current cars: my '96 Mustang Cobra, my '01 Mustang Cobra, my '08 Shelby GT500, my wife's '13 Mustang GT, and my '13 ZL1 Camaro. The key is doing this for the first car. Using this system, the same day you pay cash for the first car, you can start on the years of saving towards the next one.

I absolutely cannot imagine taking on a payment that big. My opinion, nothing personal to anyone in here,is that uunfortunately unless you can put a lot more down, as in all of it, you kind of can't afford it. I was fortunate. But if I had not been in the position I was in I wouldn't have bought a ZL1.
OP. Dont know anything about your situation, but what happened to your SS? Did you pay it off? And if you now pick up a $700-$800 a month payment, what happens if you lose your job? Some people will get mad at me and say so "so only rich people should be able to buy a ZL1?" Well yeah. And no. I mean rich people can do what they want. But for people like me I made sacrifices and choices to get my ZL1, 90 hrs a week, no life, not going out, things like that. I'm stepping off the soap box now. There are just a lot if things that need to go into a car purchase decision.

It is very tough to swing when you don't have a down payment of any sort. Fortunately for me I traded in my 11 SS (Fully paid off) and got 28k for it which provided a nice down payment. All in all I'm paying $550 a month currently.

Sold my 2009 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG for $48K took the allowance stash I had in a cigar box and left the dealership with my ZL 1 and a lien free title. Zero $ for Zero months is the way to go.

Go to a dealer and get some numbers, then you decide if you can swing it. Just because you go talk to them dont mean you have to leave with one. Good luck

You don't even need to talk to a dealer. A car payment is easy to calculate. I have an amortization spreadsheet in Excel that I use to keep up with my mortgage and any car payments.
The best tip I can offer to anybody buying a car is to know what a good interest rate is for a loan. The financing part of a car purchase is another deal outside of negotating any discount or trade value. If you know you can get 2% financing outside of the dealer, then they know what they have to beat to earn your financing too. |

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=274560 But I have some money saved (not enough to pay it off) but enough to where I feel I may be able to get where I once was. I love the look of the ZL1 but like I said, if Im not able to do it once the 14's come out then I will just get another SS and mod it until its similar. Hahaha. |
