Pfff film it and put it on youtube then start browsing the latest models while it's still burning, As long a I'm safe a car can be replaced no matter how much I like it.

Back seat armrest, driver's side... spent an hour making it match my yella car...

... although in retrospect, I kind of think I'd prefer the mount in front of the driver's seat, as others have done. I may move it to that location sometime.

Occasionally, events (especially Autocross) require extinguishers to be within reach of the driver and secure. After looking to buy a mount, I decided I really didn't think it was worth $250+ so made my own.

Similar to the one in one of the links above, but I simplified it even further. Mine is a simple piece of wood, cut down and beveled bolted to the underside of the seat rails using stainless hardware after sanding and painting black. Total cost was about $25-30, including the extinguisher.

And as it turns out, I have ended up using the thing. After a cruising event, on the way home, a car was on fire on the side of the Interstate. I ended up using the extinguisher to knock the engine fire down and almost completely out (the engine bay was fully engulfed and had been burning 15 minutes when I arrived). While the 3 lb extinguisher did not "quite" put the fire completely out, it was close and had I gotten there earlier it would have. As it was, it likely prevented the rest of the car from burning up allowing the woman to save all the items in the car (nav etc) ... the car was still a total loss.

Without getting into detail you do not want the headache of repairing even a small fire in a vehicle, I have been there years ago. If mine catches fire and there is nothing in immediate danger of anything else catching fire I will go grab some hot dogs or marshmallows instead of the extinguisher.

Just make sure you get the right type to put out gasoline/oil fires, and they are not exactly friendly with components under the hood.

Dean.

Mounted mine under the glovebox.
There was literally holes/notches basically already there, I just got some sheet metal and made a mounting bracket.
I'll post pics when I'm not on my phone. But you can't even see it when you're sitting, but if you duck and look underneath, it's there.
