My wife wanted an Auto, because she didn't like driving the Manual our Porsche had. And since the ZL1 was a toy for both of us to share, we got the Auto. I'm damn happy that we did, because I love the feeling of just cruising down the road and then stomping it, which instantly plants my ass further back in the seat and takes off like a bat out of hell. I'm surprised I like the Auto as much as I do. So much so that if I wind up adding a Stingray to the garage, it will probably be an Auto also.

To each their own is right. Everyones talking about the Auto is faster down the strip, does every one here run them at the strip? I know some of you do. After seeing the how fast have you gone thread, that was recently deleted, most barely broke 100. I drive mine on sunny days, I enjoy banging through the gears, not flipping a paddle. Clutch in accelerator out, accelerator in clutch out. Now thats an enjoyable ride. I'm willing to potentially give up a couple of tenths of a second on a drag strip that I may rarely or ever go to for that state of bliss.

You're (↑↑↑) missing SCHUSS's point. A torque converter (of any spec) is not a universally acceptable substitute for a manually operated clutch, no matter how much it may benefit the car's dragstrip performance numbers or even just the straight line "feel". Simply put, there are other factors at work here, and they seem to be a lot harder for the average drag racer to fully grasp.
