2016 Camaro V6 LGX Dyno Test @ Phastek Performance
As we all know the NEW LGX motor looks like it is going to be a great platform for the 2016 Camaro. We were given the opportunity to get some great information off of this car recently and we are very surprised about what we were able to find.
The motor is rated at 335hp and 284 lb/ft of torque. What we were able to see using a DynoJet was a peak of 241rwhp at 6200rpm and 225 lb/ft of torque at 3500rpm with a 5th gear pull, a 1.26:1 ratio gear. 6th gear has a 1:1 ratio but we were not able to get a full pull, see graph below, since the car would top out at 155mph. Since we were using an Automatic transmission we were calculating about a 20% drivetrain loss, so the numbers we got were a bit low. We did however run into the issue of the car topping out at 155mph, that might have played a factory into what we got from the car. We would have liked to see about a 270rwhp number since that is about 20% from the 335hp motor number. Overall the car was impressive and we did get some great information that shows that there is plenty of improvements that can be made. We are hoping to get more information as parts become available for these cars. The owner would like to do upgrades in stages, usually starting with cold air intake, exhaust, simple bolt ons, and then upgrading with a tune if possible. Below is a dyno video and some pictures of the exhaust that we were able to get while we had our hands on the car for a while. The car is a daily driver for this customer but he is willing to work closely with us so we can get some information for everyone. ENJOY AND STAY TUNED FOR MORE!! 5th Gear Pull: 6th Gear Pull: |

Dang! Nice flat torque curve. Can't wait to see more.

The 6 speed manual gear ratio is 1:1 for 5th gear.
Think the manual will produce more accurate results? Looks like the HP numbers are about 8% off target (due to the governed speed). TQ numbers are right at 20%. edit: I just used an online calculator. Looks like the 6 speed manual will hit 155 mph at 6150 rpm in 5th gear.

Owner puts premium in it. We are in Houston so very close to sea level, according to the Google we are at 43ft. Dont know how accurate that is thought. Had about 1500 miles when we got it on the dyno. 100% Completely Stock. |

I pass a red v6 that looks identical to this when I go home from work at 7am in the morning. He's always heading downtown in the HOV lane. I wonder if it could be same guy!
Looks good in red! What is that adjustable valve for?

it's an automatic. The valve is there to increase back pressure when the engine shuts down 2 cylinders for 4 cylinder mode.

In addition to that the A8 has an open rear dif on both the 4 cyl and 6 cyl. The M6 V6 has the same limited slip rear dif (different ratio though) and half shafts as the SS.

Sweet I've been waiting to see this.
That awesome flat torque curve shouldn't be a surprise to anyone familiar with the LFX and LLT engines....they make great torque across the curve. But something is up with this test...im going to assume the gear used reduced the numbers by at least 20 on both hp and tq. These are lower numbers than the last gen will put down stock. Is there any way to enter the ratio of the gear used into the dyno to get an accurate reading? My estimate for an accurate 1:1 reading on a manual would be around 280hp/240tq

What is the factory justification for a speed limiter in this day & age, limiting the car's full potential?!
