I would have got an auto if i wasn't going to keep the car for a very long time. A manual car is an extension of yourself while driving. Automatics are boring to me unless being a DD.

Not true. Motortrend has already corrected this before, and even mention it at the end of the Ignition video. The published video shows the manual winning. But Randy Pobst ran a faster time with the A10 off the record. He supposedly told the crew something felt "off" with the A10 during the recorded lap, so they investigated. They found out it was nothing but a tire pressure issue, so he went back out in the A10. He recorded a faster lap, but didn't have all the data recording equipment in the car used to produce the videos. That's why the slower lap ended up being used for the Ignition episode.

I love the fact that we still have these choices and so many people buying Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs, and Challengers are still picking sides on auto or manual. To me, hopefully that'll show the Big 3 that we Americans still desire the choice. I just don't want to see a point where they're only offering autos.

I won't lie...The instantaneous decisiveness of the A10 tempts me like a fresh bag of movie popcorn when being punched. I mean it really does smell tasty. BUT imo, the m6 interaction is delicious at all thresholds...creeping through a parking lot, normal street acceleration, brief spirited stoplight runs, and the all important track day. That's just me though.

And who wants to keep throwing the tranny in neutral just to rev the glorious lt4??? Not I, I say.

Quite an endorsement. Are you using the paddles or the gearshift to shift manually?

+1

I guess the biggest "thrill" for for me in a manual is when you shift, break traction and the tires spin and squeal (ok, smoke) a bit, even going to third in the ZL1. I am unsure if that can be done in the A10. I know the A10 can just smoke without stopping like in the video. That does not impress me. I can smoke the tires in a 4 cyl.

Not if you're getting the 1LE. No choice there.

I guess then the next thrill instead of an auto is to get the new self-driving car. You can just sit there and do nothing. That should be REAL fun!

GM driver Aaron Link was the same way when I spoke with him in August. The A10 had him sold.

I got the manual 'cause I was getting bored to tears with "Perfect-Shift -Everytime -Bore-Me-To-Tears" 991 C2S PDK.... same thing happened with M5 SMG, M3 SMG, Golf R DSG... Perfekt and after the show-off effect gear banging perfectly one after the other wears off, you're left frustrated, feeling empty, helpless really...not interacting with the car as the automotive Gods had intended...

PS, of course the A10 is faster than the M6
Porsche finally got it with the new GT3, some of us want to interact with the clutch etc.

I find it extremely interesting the "ultimate" track Camaro still comes with on M6. I have heard zero explanations from GM On why the "faster" A10 is not available for the ZL1 1LE. Doesn't hurt my feelings at all as I have an M6 and would have picked the M6 for my 1LE regardless but I do think it means something.

My old wreck is a mere 3 spd auto. Last friday in testing it covered from 0 to 330' in 3.9 seconds. That is Not boring. I'd love to have the A10 trans in my junk. Some folks simply like to push in a clutch however the sense of being more in control of the car with the manual just isn't a reality. I shift my old crap manually but an electric shift controller would certainly make the car more consistent.

I see you are running the 0.1875 mile. Where is that track?

If you car comes with this option, I will buy it in a heartbeat.

That's the first half of the track my friend, there's still another 330' to go. My point was simply to state that either the M6 or the A10 delivers the "feel" to the driver, not to confuse "fee"l with "illusion". They both have their customers. An automatic doesn't remove the rush factor.
