Oh look, Camaro5 has ANOTHER freakout thread.

Calm down folks. GM knows what you want. GM will deliver.

I've learned not to take Motor Trends future speculations too seriously. Plus its all irrelivent, the apocolypse is 12/21/12 so there will be no 6th gen LOL... J/K... I hope LOL

oh, it will. Mustang will probably have to end up going this same route though.

I AGREE. THERE HAS TO BE A V-8 IN TOP CAMARO MODEL WHETHER IT'S CALLED A Z-28, SS OR ZL-1. I WOULD NOT PURCHASE A V-6 REGARDLESS OF THE HP.

Im tired of these V6 threats, it seems like any time any new muscle car gets brought up theres some lame rumor of a V6 ruining everybody's day. It just wont fly in a muscle car, with such a huge margain of sales going to the V8 there's absolutly no way GM will drop the V8 as a performance standard. Now there may be an optional DI V6 that you could opt for but the standard will always remain a V8 or else the car will not be made. You lose the V8, you lose the fans, you lose the sales, you lose the car. Besides technology has factually eliminated the "gas guzzling" aspect from V8s, these days its just a stigma and with the advancements we've seen over the past 5 years im sure by 2014 we'll have some really amazing products keeping the V8 alive, and not just in the Z/28 but in the SS as well.

A performance DI V6 Camaro already has a name, its called Cobalt...

I have no doubts there will be a V-8, and the news of a lighter chassis makes me giddy.

Depending on which v8 they decided to put in, combined with shaving some pounds, there will be no issues with meeting CAFE goals. Keep in mind it stands for Corporate Average Fuel Economy.

If/when Chevy sells a metric shitton of Aveos, Cruzes and Volts, not to mention all the hybrid variants of other models, there really won`t be an issue of meeting the averages.

Especially if the 6th gen gets the DI V8

the 2LT can run the snot out of a Cobalt. unless you're talking about the SS turbo, which is an entirely different beast, and still not a V6.

Yeah, the turbo, thats where the DI came from lol

I am interested in the new platform though i never thought the Camaro should be on the Zeta platform, as long as Alpha is a predominatly 2-door platform i'll be happy. Im annoyed at how the new Camaro and Challenger are just G8s and Chargers with a face lift and the removal of the back doors, so getting the Camaro back to a true 2-door platform will be a huge improvement

I think you guys are all missing the point. If it sucks, then my 5th gen will be the one worth the money, if it doesnt suck ,then my 5th gen will be more than paid off by then and I will preorder a bad ass 6th gen, but only if its a v8.
