Skip Shift Eliminator Question

I plan on getting a manual transmission and have a question for anyone experienced with a skip shift eliminator. Will installing this void the warranty if a problem with the transmission arises?

Usually, it would be removable and undetectable in case of a warranty need.

No it will not affect your powertrain warranty.

It only makes you skip 1-4, correct? Meaning if you start in 2 for casual driving it won't be an issue anyway?

Yup. Or if you hammer down out of first.

It won't affect your warranty, but if you're worried what the dealer will say if you have a transmission problem you can remove it as easily as you can install it. It's a simple plug connection.

I've never had or seen an issue with the skip shift eliminator.

Is it in the V6 manual? Had a 2010LS and now 2014LT both manual and never noticed it... hmm

The V8 manual has it to get around the gas guzzler tax, not needed on the V6!

1.how is the clutch pedal? It is a little different, it grabs towards the top of the pedal.
2.is it light or stiff? In the middle I would say.
3.anoying in traffic? No different than any other manual. If you have a lot of hills or inclines, it would be annoying. Especially, if the hill assist kicked in!
4.did you ever had problems with getting the shifter into gear? Not really, some people complained that it was notchy when cold. I changed my trans fluid to Redline D4 ATF and it became even smoother.
5.do you get the short throw gears in the ss too? Mine did with the 1LE option.

The trans in my car is different than the SS without the 1LE option. My trans is a Tremec 6060MM6 and the 5th gen SS has a Tremec 6060 MN6. Hope some of this helps you.

Sounds like a skip shift eliminator is the way to go - check out this MT rant in their long term Z28 update.

My wife is threatening to make me a shirt that reads "#$@!ing skip shift!" which is what I mutter every time it gets me.
So what is the eliminator trick - a plugin module that is attached somewhere underhood, daisy-chained into the ECU? Or can you do it with an OBD tuning tool? The latter could lead to warranty issues if GM's new ECUs do not allow for a no-traces wipe of a tune.

Given the software changes made to the tranny to add the rev-matching I'd be cautious about using any existing solution until it's been thoroughly tested with the new car.

On my car, there is a plug that goes into the transmission. You undo the plug, put the skip device module inline, and plug back into the transmission. Took 5 minutes, if that to install.

People have even had the dealership install the skip shift for them.
