That's going to beat the ecoboost no problem.

Are challenger 5.7 owners going to be scared of v6 camaros?

I would never get the v6 but it is going to have some serious performance. Mid 13s stock by a private owner wouldn't surprise me.
If the base V6 did lose 300 pounds as Al O says, that puts it in the low 3,400 range (Amazing!) but lets just say for the heck of it, it will be 3,450 pounds. 335HP...That comes to 10.3 lbs per HP. Throw on a couple easy mods and get 350 HP and that puts it at 9.85 lbs per hp. The base SS 5th gen L99 has a 9.78 lbs per hp ratio at its weight of 3,915 pounds. That's something to think about. Sure...it will be down on torque, but its going to be pretty quick...that 8 speed will help much more in the torque department where the heavier 5th gen with its 6 speed has a harder time.

29:00 will there be a all wheel drive version. there is one we might sell (caller)... We have to be true to what a Camaro is. All wheel doesn't fit in. Does say gen5 cemented the Z/28 as a track focused car

He said the 4 and 6 are almost 300lbs lighter. So less than than but close to 300.

And it's 400-500 lbs lighter. Won't need as much torque.

Few bolt ons and a tune watch out stock L99.

How's that?

We don't know the exact weight of the v6 either...

Still seems a bit optimistic but the power to weight is getting close and much more so than the 5th Gen. The actual slight horsepower and substantial torque advantage of the LS1 regardless of advertised, coupled with similar weight should allow them to survive competitions against base model Camaros for another generation. But probably not Gen 7...

Hence why I mentioned A4 LS1. They would range from 13.8-13.4's. An A8 has substantial advantage in the 1/4, couple that with the stiffer chassis and better suspension of the 6th gen could make up for the slight difference in power. It will be very close I'm sure.

Torque is somewhat over-rated. Its nice, don't get me wrong. But with comparable power to weight ratios, the lighter car wins a little more often than the torquier (sp?) car.

When you look at a car head-on, the first thing you notice is the front fascia, followed by the roof line. You compare how wide the fascia is to the overall height & that ratio determines how wide a car looks to the human eye -regardless of its actual measurements or other details

He gave 0 indication of an EV, his response to that question was to mention that some university students were working on Camaros for a sponsored multi-year engineering competition (which is kinda intriguing by itself). If the students come up with something viable, GM might consider utilizing such an idea. But they probably aren't going to turn the Camaro into a Tesla fighter any time soon.

...Awesome news on the weight...The SS should be able to beat the 200 lbs weight reduction easily, I would think....

It is optimistic I agree....m6 ls1 no way...they ran as fast as high 12s (rare) and trapped up to 107-108.

As supersound said the 4 speed auto weren't nearly as fast. The 8 speed auto v6 might be able to hang with the ls1 a4...

For reference my 98 z28 m6 was a hard top stripper crank windows and all. It weighed 3297 with 1/3 tank of gas when I had it weighed at the place that dyno tuned it. (EPP-exotic performance plus which I think is out of business now) Only weight reduction I had done was removed spare and jack and obviously aftermarket exhaust usually saves weight.

So the curb weight (full tank and spare original everything) on a 98 m6 would be in the 3400lb range...and that was a no option car.

I was just surprised at how similar the power and weight looked compared to a 4th gen so I couldn't help but mention it...

Mod for mod you can forget it though....cammed ls1 and your gonna need fi with that v6. Even though it didn't make quite the power my 10 ss did...I swear my h/c 98 would have run neck and neck with it. It actually felt faster if I had to guess...
