Snow/Ice mode

What exactly does snow/ice mode do on my 2021 3LT automatic? New owner, just curious.

While I don't know the specifics, almost certainly it'll have the sensitivity at its highest for preventing wheel slippage.

Some quick googling shows that it keeps the motor's revs lower in snow/ice mode as well.

Main advantage is easier progression on the throttle map. Makes it much harder to break traction in slippery conditions. I find it very useful with my manual transmission. Essentially, I don't really have to think about going easy on the throttle. The car does it for me.

And yet it answered your question exactly, with details of each parameter in each driving mode.

It pretty much makes the throlle anemic. It feels like the first 30% of pedal application only does 10% of actual throttle position. I only use it on residential roads when they are coated in ice. As soon as I'm on collector/arterial roads which tend to get plowed/sanded i'll put it back into sport.

It was a fair question and criticism of TFM. Saying "weather" for throttle progression is far from an exact answer with a lot of detail. For that, something more like the responses of ctrlz & IceGoaliePaul are genuinely useful.

OP, if you haven't already I'd recommend taking your Camaro out and giving Snow/Ice a try before the conditions the mode is named for become the daily forecast where you are, to give yourself a feel for what the effect is like. It'll be different with real snow & ice under your tires robbing you of traction, but a few practiced slow starts will give you an idea of what to expect when you really need the mode.

Thanks everyone, and Lazerbrainz2k3 for the detail. Yes, 'weather' wasn't too helpful as a new owner. I'll just try the mode out and see what happens

And even when you post it, people still apparently don't read it... except for maybe one word.
