so a ZR1 7:19 and Z06 7:22 are much faster , and the M4 GTS is right there? is that impressive with such power? I wonder what the new 1le would do would love to see that! probably better than M4 GTS

I know what I'd rather have. They're always part of the engineering team. They go to the 'Ring for research & development, and to get the most useful feedback about what the car is doing you pretty much need to have an engineer in the drivers seat.

The only changes made to the ZL1 were the installation of data acquisition equipment, a roll hoop and Sparco racing seats with six-point harnesses. Otherwise, the car was production stock and included the following:
6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V-8 making 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque All-new 10R90 10-speed automatic transmission (set to Track mode to enable Performance Algorithm Shift calibration, providing optimal gear selection without the need to manually select gears) FE4 Suspension with Magnetic Ride Control Performance Traction Management Forged 20-inch wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 tires Brembo brakes with front 15.4-inch rotors and six-piston calipers and rear 14.4-inch rotors and four-piston calipers Lift-reducing front fascia elements with cooling ducts and Chevrolet “flowtie” Full underbody shielding ZL1-specific rear spoiler and diffuser 11 heat exchangers Still in awe over the video....I highlighted some items I don't recall as being mentioned as stock on the ZL-1 in earlier threads....Maybe they were... It just amazed me how well the car seemed to handle and not spin around as it carried speed in the turns.... As far as the trans goes, I suppose one could theoretically duplicate the shifting with the paddles....???....Impressive how well that downshifted, revved, etc. all by itself....I think a manual 6thGen Z/28 has it's work cut out to better that lap.... P.S. I think the windshield had bug-splatter on it....not rain-drops... |

Ring times are marketing exercises. It's all bar talk for the fan boys. The track is s tuning tool.

I don't believe that the m4 gts(even though its a pure track car) is faster than this by almost 2 seconds. If a few weeks ago the m4 gts was slightly faster than the simple 1le, on laguna seca(there was not even a one sec difference), then smth is wrong here. BMW's time(on nurb...) must be a bs. Or it was not stock

PTM was also listed (and it's also in the 1LE, at least the 1SS ones) Full under body shielding - I don't know if called out explicitly, but it's not unexpected. |

I really believe there is a second video of the Ring time, with a passenger in the car. Of course it won't be released due to the passenger screaming like a small child in a horror movie. Plus, you couldn't really hear the A10 shifting with all the "... let me out, stop you fool, we are going to die!" comments. |

FWIW...I can't make out all the details in the video, but at the 7:50 mark, the dash data recorder thingy in the center looks like it shows a lap time of 7:38:11...lol....just sayin'....
